Clifford Earl Hewitt - June 9, 1920 - Jan. 24, 1998
Mr. Clifford Earl Hewitt, 77, of McKenzie, died Saturday, January 24, 1998 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital of heart failure.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 27, at Enon Baptist Church in McKenzie. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery near Trezevant. Reverend Dennis Beal officiated. Music was "Bulah Land" by Jana Cheatham, "If You Could See Me Now" by Michael Allen; and "Leave Me A Message," by tape, Kirk Talley.
Pallbearers were William Allen, Thomas Allen, Jimmy Allen, Richard Allen, Charles Beal and James Crowder.
Honorary pallbearer was James Cornett of Loogootee, IN.
Mr. Hewitt, a retired federal employee, was born in Shoals, Indiana, to the late Lou Vera Shipman and Frank L. Hewitt. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church in McKenzie, a lifetime member of the D. A. V., and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Allen Hewitt of McKenzie; one daughter, Terry Fuhrman of Loogootee, Indiana; two stepdaughters, Betty Jones of McKenzie and Sandra Rimer of Cedar Grove; two sons Leslie Hewitt and Mark Hewitt, both of Shoals, Indiana; one brother, Paul Hewitt of Shoals, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
