The body and paint work is nearing completion. CatVert now has a sealer coat of primer and should have a new color coat within the next two weeks.  In this photo, note the upper body line that normally flows up into the roof of a '67-68 Cougar has been reworked with metal  to flow forward into the rear quarter window area as if that's where it belongs.

Note also that we were able to keep the panel between the convertible well from the trunk at a relatively normal depth.  That was achieved by raking the roof back and leaves extra room in the well to avoid rubbing the top on the rear of the well.

Above -  The GT-E style hood scoop has been reworked for a closer fit and is almost ready for paint.  The hood has been worked to repair an old dent that had  been filled in with body filler. The body work has been performed by Custom Auto Works of Lancaster, NY.  John DeVirgilio, the shop owner,  has taken extraordinary care to ensure proper fit and finish. When CatVert is done, a refrigerator magnet will stick to any metal surface it is placed against.

Here, the front fender awaits final sanding and paint.  The front fender extensions have also been worked carefully to ensure an exact fit and alignment.

Left - As mentioned above, fit and finish have been a focal point for Custom Auto Works.  Note the fit of the door in this shot and in the picture below.  Note also, as previously mentioned, how the upper rear quarter body line flows naturally into the quarter window area.

All of the body lines meet as they should and the entire side of the car is absolutely straight with no dips or waves in the metal.

Below - A fore and aft view of the convertible top support structure.  For additional rigidity, the flanges that tie the support into the floor have also been tied into the inner rocker panels where they extend back to the inner wheel housing.  The area has been seam-sealed and will be primered, then covered with Hercu-liner for long-term rust protection and sound insulation.

Here is a view of the wheel housing area on both sides.  The entire trunk area will be given a full coat of body-color paint  One change we're forced to make in this area is the mounting location for the spare tire.  The intrusion of the roof support section into the Cougar trunk requires that the tire mounting bracket be moved toward the rear to leave sufficient space for the wheel and tire.
