The meeting was called to order by Dana Shaw, Vice President at 6:08 p.m.
Number of properties represented: 15
Members in attendance: 21
Minutes from August 2007 meeting (prepared by Sharon Oliver) were read by Dana Shaw
Minutes were amended to reflect date of annual meeting will be in August, not September.
Minutes were accepted as amended.
Treasurers report:
Expenses: Franklin Fire Dept. $100.00 (donation), $50.00 to Dick Carter and $50.00 to Wade Mowery for using trucks on the ice.
Income of $150.00
Total Money Available: $2,604.45
Treasurer requested bills for supplies from picnic so members can get reimbursed.
Treasurers report was accepted.
Membership Report: 38 current members (last year’s total was 41)
Maximum number of members properties if everyone joined: 120 (properties)
New members registering this year: 6
It was noted that the number of members as a percent of total potential members is in line with other lake associations.
Membership report accepted.
Old Business:
(1) Loon count in question, possibly 6-7. Need to check with Audubon society.
(2) Membership Committee: Dawn resigned before one could be formed.
New Board will form this committee.
Diane Jordan suggested Memorial Day weekend membership drive. We need to reach out and tell prospective members what our mission and goals are.
(3) Webmaster (Brian Friedman) needs to update Georges Pond.org website. Brian can be contacted at: bff66mrk@charter.net
(4) Logo Committee: Diane Fucetola presented three rough drafts and will give to two artists to work on over the winter months. If anyone has ideas please contact Margie Beal (mlbnichols@verison.net) or Diane Fucetola(difucetola@verizon.net)
(5) Special thanks to Sharon and Maury Oliver as well as Lisa and Stuart Branch for hosting the picnic. Suggestion to have two picnics next year
New Business:
(1) Dana made the suggestion that we organize a “Friends of Georges Pond Association” for people who use the pond but do not own property there.
(2)
Tree Erosion: This
involves the tree at the outlet where the bank at the base of the tree
is
eroding and if the tree comes down the beach will suffer.
We have one bid
of $700 to fortify the area
around the tree. The town will probably
not want to do anything. A suggestion
was made to have the members wrap the tree and place rocks: estimated cost $100.

Beach Erosion: This is a
Public Beach: Dana Shaw: will bring up at Town Selectmen’s’ Meeting. Suggestion by Dick Hall: attend town
meeting, bring up issue,
set a timeline, see if they will comply. If not
suggest we do ourselves. Bring pictures to meeting. Will be put on
agenda for
our next meeting (June).
(4) Water Quality Committee: Met on 8/20 (Dick Hall, Dana Shaw & Joe Jordan).
Received kits, will start
collecting pond water samples next spring when there is the most run
off. Run
off from dirt roads contribute to algae buildup.
We need to collect facts
before going to Town and/or EPA.

House Number Project for 911 calls:
Applications handed out at meeting.

New Member Registration Cards: Diane Jordan has
made up cards
to collect updated contact information in a uniform manner. Hubene will have these on hand as inquiries
are made.
(7) The election results for the Board of Officers was announced: 29 ballots received.
For President: Dawn Carter: 11; Paul Grant:18 (elected)
For Vice-President: Dana Shaw: 27 (elected)
For Secretary: Janet Staub: 27 (elected)
For Treasurer: Hubene Brodie (27)
Directors: Merle Cousins (27), Brian Friedman (26), Joe Jordan (26), Dianne Fucetola (26), Stuart Branch (25), Sharon Oliver (1).
Diane Jordan made a motion to accept results; Dana seconded. Accepted by vote of members present.
