Return to Meeting Minutes

Georges Pond Property Owners Association (GPPOA)

Minutes of Regular Meeting on September 3, 2006    6:00 P. M.

Meeting was called to order by Dawn Carter, Pres.

Directors and Officers present were Dawn Carter, Hubene Brodie, Dana Shaw, Martha Murch, Joe Jordan, Diane Fucetola and Paul Grant.

The minutes of August 6, 2006 annual meeting were read by Martha Murch, Sec. and approved as written.

Old Business

Dawn Carter reported that Irving Wilbur and crew had installed the new 24" and 24" squat culverts on August 31 according to Paul Grant's proposal that was accepted by the Franklin Selectmen.   The 2 large rocks that had been     partially blocking the previous culvert have been returned to Jon and Suzette Noyes.  The sandbags used in the installation of the new culverts have been removed from the pond.  Paul Grant reported that it will probably take one to one and a half years for the culverts to settle in and the right level of sand, etc. to build up in them. Photos taken by Hubene Brodie during the installation will be kept in the permanent records of GPPOA.

New Business

Paul Grant, Hubene Brodie volunteered to work with Dana Shaw regarding a retaining wall to protect the tree on the southeast side of the culvert that suffered a washout.  They will contact the DEP regarding this project.

Eddy Jordan and Phil Kearns are volunteers for the committee to build loon nest(s).

Diane Fucetola expressed interest in incorporating GPPOA as a non-profit organization to protect individual members against possible lawsuits.  She will look into what this entails as well as the cost.  Copies of GPPOA by-laws and mission statement will be made available to the attorney involved in this.

Robert Richard Condon is going to be taking classes through the Maine Lake Volunteer Program
to provide instruction on monitoring the clarity, temperature, etc. of the water.

Mo Oliver and Dana Shaw volunteered to monitor the ice fishing shacks making sure they are removed from the ice by the proper date.

Bruce Carter will look into a problem with trees too near the road in the area of John Partridge's camp that could block the passage of fire trucks or emergency vehicles.  He will discuss this with the Franklin Fire Chief.

Joe Jordan and Merle Cousins volunteered to look into testing the pond water for chemicals.

Dana Shaw shared his concerns about possible runoff from the field across the road from his house.

"NO PARKING" signs by the boat launch were discussed.

Paul Grant received an enthusiastic round of applause for his thorough, dedicated and unbiased presentation for replacing the culverts.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:27 P. M.

Respectfully submitted,

Martha Murch
