These audio samples where made with a single
microphone mounted
in different ways to illustrate how mic position affects the drum sound
recorded. The microphone model used is a CAD E-100 condenser
mic. There is no added EQ or processing except for a small amount
of compression to even out the overall level.
The samples are in mp3 format. Please make sure your player is set
accordingly.
This sample had the mic mounted behind the throne about 7 foot high
and angled down toward the center of the kit.
This sample had the mic mounted 3" above the front of the resonant
head of the bass drum angled up slightly toward the toms.
This sample had the mic mounted to the right of the throne about 7 foot
high
and angled down toward the center of the kit.
