HERD Southeast Chapter

HERD Southeast Chapter of Bay State Trail Riders Association is based in Southeastern Massachusetts, with members from Middleborough, Lakeville, Carver, and surrounding towns.

Meeting information. We meet the second Wednesday of every month.
Our next meeting is scheduled for January 10th. We meet at the Middleborough Council on Aging at 7:30 PM. Directions: From Route 44 (heading east from the Middleborough rotary) turn right onto Route 105. Take your first right (just past the church) onto Plymouth St. The COA is approximately one half mile on the right.

Agenda and Current Events

  • 2007 Tack Sale plans getting underway!
    We are currently working on plans for this years Tack Sale, to be discussed at the January meeting, this event is usually a nice public event, and it helps to have lots of volunteers to keep everything running smoothly.

  • Successful Scot Hansen Clinic was held June 24, 2006
    We may be able to talk Scot into coming back to hold another clinic about safe horsemanship if we have enough interest.

  • New Equestrian trails are marked in the Assawompsett Pond Complex! Parking is along the fire lane, without blocking any gates. Trail starts at APC Gate M6, across the street from the Morgan Property on Long Point Road. The 3.37 mile trail is marked with blue triangles with a white horse silhouette, placed at eye level for an equestrian. Please stay on the marked trail. Don't ride on unmarked trails. Don't ride your horse down to the pond, or water at ANY body of water in the APC. We need to try to set a precedent of using the equestrian trail... there will be more miles of trails in the future, please ride responsibly under the current situation until then. Individual riders will not need a special use permit, if things change, you will be notified.
