Birds For Sale Raising Short Face birds is not for everyone. It requires a lot of time and dedication. The babies usually need to be cared for from the time of hatching until they are weaned and able to eat on their own. This means that the caretaker must be prepared to help them out of the egg on the day of hatching, hand feed them if necessary, and give them continual care for the first six to eight weeks of their lives. Even with the best of care, survival rates may at times be less than fifty percent in the youngsters. These birds have been engineered by man to have very short beaks , large bulging eyes, and wide square heads with high backskulls. Mother nature therefore needs man's help to raise these precious little birds. Due to the difficulty, expertise, time and devotion required to breed these birds, the value of the survivors is rather high. When birds are occasionally for sale, the price will depend on the quality of the bird since these are all bred for the show room. I will usually sell my excess birds in the late Fall of the year, and only to serious breeders.
