d-28 Dec 1893 Neshoba Co. Ms

Eli enlisted the 24 of April 1861 in Neshoba Co. Ms. in Company D, 11th Ms. Regt. He was wounded near Richmond, Va. on the 6th of March 1864. Gunshot was removed from his foot at Richmond, Va. It is understood that he was on crutches or crippled for the rest of his life.
All of Eli's sons served in the Civil War.
Jarvas Seale was with the Ms. State Troops
William Seale and Wesley Seale both served in Co. A, 35th Ms. Infantry, they enlisted at
DeKalb,Ms. on the same day, the 26 of Feb 1862.
James Seale the youngest son, enlisted at Lauderdale Station on the 30th of March 1861 in Capt.
McElory's Company F. 13th Regt. Ms. Inf. James was captured near Knoxville, Tn. and was sent
to military prison, Louisville, Ky. about the 3rd of Dec. 1863. In 1864 he was sent to Rock Island
where he remained a prisoner until the end of the war.
Edna Seale Married a Jeremiah Pilgrim--His 3rd wife filed for a pension. His military history is not
known by me.
Rachel A. Seale m- Robert J. Grantham
b-1842 Ms.
d-12 Aug 1867 He died from wounds received during the Civil War. There was a pension
Application.
Mary Jane Seale m- John H. Selby. His son, William C. Selby b-16 May 1838 d-31 May 1926.
William served as Sargent, Co. A. 35th Ms. Inf. and received a pension
His brother Danial H.Selby Served in the Confederate Army. No other info. known.
Rachel Gray Selby (sister to the above) m- William Thomas Grantham b-10 Nov. 1846 (war
record) Served in Conf. Army.
Sara Elizabeth Selby (sister to above) m- John James Roberts. He served in the Conf. Army.

Thomas Allison Seale b-5 Oct. 1827 Green Co. Ala. d-25 Nov. 1891 Neshoba Co. Ms.
bur.Sandtown Meth. Cem.Thomas enlisted in Co F. 40th Ms. Regt on 7 May 1862. He was
discharge on 4th July 1863 due to illness.
Wesley Y. Seale b-30 April 1832 Green Co. Ala. d-21 Sept 1911 Collingsworth Co. Tx.
He enlisted at DeKalb Co. Ms. on 20th of Feb. 1862. He served in Co. A. 35th Ms. Inf. he was
taken prisoner at Vicksburg and upon his exchange was transferred to the confederate Navy. He
has military records in Washington D.C.
Nancy Yarborough Seale m- William Judson Horton. He served during the Civil War. It is said that he was in the Carolinia's at the end of the war and walked home to Ms. stopping in Ga. to visit relatives.

Other Seale Family Members Who served in the Civil War
Allen Seale at age 20 enlisted as a private in Co F. 8th Texas Calvary, served under Capt Strobel. This was known as Terry's Texas Rangers. He died in Nashville, Tn. no date given. He is burried in Nashville, Tn.

Elijah Seale b-15 Nov. 1824 d- 1 Oct 1875. Elijah served in 2nd Regt. Inf. (Quinn's State Troop) Army of the Confederate States of America.
James Nathaniel Seale b-23 Nov 1845 Franklin Co. Ms. d-1890 bur- in Seale Family Cem.Franklin Co. Ms. James enlisted as a private 5 Oct. 1863 in the 14th Regt. Conf. Cal. Co. I.
He enlisted at Meadville, Ms.
Paschal H. Seal - Conf. Soldier- no other information.

1997 O.M. "Jac" Smith is in ill health. I spoke with him this A.M. His mother , Blanch Seale
Smith was born on April 10, 1898 and is taking care of her son at the age of 99 years old.
Elias Thompson Seale- Born Hinds County, Ms. Sept 11 1829
Elias Thompson Seale was a scout who took a company of 100 wagons to the California gold
fields on May 1st 1849 at the age of 19. He got them through without any loss. He recruited the
secons company for the war of 1861-1865 and was it's 1st Captian. It was Co. "C" 13th Texas
Cavalry. In 1864 Capt. Seale was made a Major. He was in the battle of Mansfield, La. and served
with the 13th. this was part of the Waule Brigade of Taylor's army.After the war he went back
home and farmed and raised stock. He died on Nov. 2, 1880 and is burried in the Blount
Cemetery in Jasper, Texas
.
