Cambia Flute Ensemble is a professional performing group based in the
Tri-Cities (Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol) region of Tennessee.
Formed in 2009, Cambia Flute Ensemble is comprised of four professional
flutists from the Upper East Tennessee area: Dana Bellino, Eileen
Butler, Elisa Wardeska and Emily Webb.
The opportunity to explore the limitless possibilities of the flute repertoire is the guiding force in Cambia’s formation. Adding to the arts culture, both regionally and beyond, by presenting quality music and striving for excellence in sound is another benefit from their endeavor. Cambia is fast-gaining the reputation for combining a top-caliber performance of challenging and engaging music, combined with an evident camaraderie and sense of humor between its members and the audience. Cambia’s repertoire encompasses a broad range of musical genres, including music written specifically for flute ensembles as well as transcriptions and arrangements for other instruments. Their music features added depth and breadth of sound by using the piccolo, alto and bass flutes, in combination with the more familiar concert flute. Member Dana Bellino adds to the group’s repertoire with her own arrangements and original compositions. Cambia’s Debut Concert/April 2009 featured the virtuosic work: "A Day at the Mountains" by Eugene Bozza, plus an enthusiastically-received performance of "West Side Story" featuring the four flutes of Cambia in combination with Jay Oberfeitinger, professional percussionist, on drum set. The Chills & Trills Halloween concert/October 2009 wowed audiences with a show-stopping performance combined with a multi-media experience in the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre. The event featured a memorable combination of "thrilling" flutes and zombie dancers, as well as a hilarious salute to Alfred Hitchcock. Two Jonesborough storytellers and a magic “chemistry” show added to the evening’s enjoyment.
