My Take on Communism
Chas Andres
Communism is one of the trickiest issues of the past century, because the theory of it and the application of it are two different things. I happen to like the theory behind communism, the Mr.Rogers-pseudo-happy land where everyone is equal, and it's an all-for-one one-for-all atmosphere. For what Marx was creating when he came up with the theory of communism was the utopian dream, where there was no crime, and everyone was equal and happy. Happyness? there is nothing wrong with that. The real problem starts with the fact that Communism goes against human nature. It will never work, because people cannot adapt to that environment. How could you? Suddenly, you are in a society where escolating up the ladder of success was impossible, because everyone was already equal. You do as much work as the next guy, live in a house like his, drive a car like his, and it will never change. Ever. And also, who would be the leader of all this? For anything to work, something must govern it, and that would mean someone who was more equal than the others. That is why there has never been a true communistic state. Russia, China, Cuba, they all tried, but just ended up killing a lot of people, and failing miserably at their goal. In fact, the only example of communism is in small communities in Israel. Never more than a few dozen people. Anyway, my point just was that communism is a good theory, and it's too bad it doesn't work, but it doesn't nontheless.
