The Knife is Haunting
By Kati Frazier
It's funny how
I still can see it.
Those shadows
'gainst the wall.
All that I could see
of you final fall.
You beegged me
to witness
your greatest sacrifice,
but I could not bear
to see your death
hanging in the air.
So I watched
your shadows
moving so subtly
through the light.
The reflection of the knife,
all that was in my sight.
I could see
a sillhouette of you,
whiping final tears
as you prepared a place
to manifest
your only grace.
The last I saw
of your visage.
The flicker of the blade
and your sillhouette
as you dug a knife
in that hallow of your chest.
It's funny how
I still can see it
when I close my eyes.
Your blood, your life
staining the floor
and the flicker of that knife.
