America is a mentor for the world?

Why is America considered so great?

During the World Wars, the United States went into Europe, and fought for freedom against Tyranny. I do believe that they were just and fair wars and I feel pride toward the soldiers that lost their lives during those wars.

Of course, wasn't it world war two when we dropped two nuclear weapons on Japan, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians ourselves? Oops.

Granted, Japan attacked us first, and they were as much the 'bad guy' as the Nazis were, but did we really need to kill all those civilians? No more than we need to kill all of the innocents living in Afghanistan.

How about Viet Nam?

How would you like to get shipped, at age 18, into the jungles of Asia to fight someone who never attacked us? How would you like to die in a fiery helicopter crash two or three years from now 'fighting' against an 'enemy' that we attacked, because we were scared of 'the communist threat'?

This was the reality for thousands of Americans, not to mention all the innocent Vietnamese whose villages we burned, and whose wives and daughters were raped by US soldiers

Also, just because we are the richest and most powerful country doesn't make us the best. What good is power if we don't use it for good? You say we shouldn't ship billions off to help Africa, but what good is being rich if we keep everything for ourselves?

We also don't need to spend billions to save trees. It might cost billions in unearned profits to not tear up the arctic tundra to find oil, but if you tear up the tundra now, you will cut down the rainforest tomorrow. And pollute the oceans next week. Eventually, the planet will become uninhabitable. I don't think anyone wants that.

We are looked at by the world as a mentor, and what do we do?

We don't sign the pacts on global warming

We don't sign the test ban treaties

We don't do jack squat to help the world, only to further the US

That's how we got to be so damn rich, after all
