My Take on Religion

Chas Andres

I personally do not believe in any organized religion, simply because I don't believe that any of the religions have 'gotten it' yet. All of them have flaws, leave out something important, or rely too much on faith in some or other document written over a thousand years ago. I personally am an agnostic, not an atheist, meaning I withhold judgement on the existence of God for now. If he or she exists, they haven't shown it to me, and I neither worship God nor say that I do not believe in God. Personally, I think a lot of the organized religions have good points. If you get down to the basic messages in most of 'em, they pretty much all have good points. It's just that there are things about them that I just cannot stand. Things like taking Jesus' original message (all about peace and love, I believe) and distorting it to the point where wars have been fought over it. Things like not accepting homosexuality, because 'God didn't want members of the same sex to be together'. Also, many people in organized religions become so buried in their own Dogma they don't open themselves up to discovering more, learning about themselves, coming up with their own beliefs.
