A Spectacle
By Kati Frazier
It seems I am quite the spectacle.
Stare at me, if you like.
Your burning, judging eyes
trying to see through me
as though it were a disguise.
But I hid nothing from you.
I need not your lies.
Stare at me, if you like.
Try to make me insecure.
As though some shame is hidden
beneath my second skin.
Why are you so determined
that I share your sin?
Stare at me, if you like.
Study me like some beast.
I have a different visage
and fit not your demeanor.
I must be a different species.
How harsh, how obscene.
