Patching the Thorns
By Kati Frazier
I'm patching the thorns
until you come
back again.
The roses you left me
still sit quite alone
on my window sill.
And the bruises on my back
have been fading
sinc you've gone.
Sometimes I cry
that you've left me alone.
Even if it's for an hour.
Sometimes I die
when you touch me.
My blood stings like fire.
But you love me
with all your heart.
You said it, it must be true.
I know you need me.
You've let me know.
All I want is a rose or two.
And I'm patching the thorns
'till you come
back again.
The roses
on the window sill
have long since faded.
And the bruises
across my face
are stinging with my blood.
Your roses still had thorns,
and they dug
beneath my skin.
You screamed.
You hit me
cause I broke your thorns away.
And I'm patching the thorns
untill you come
back again.
Back Home!
