He holds me tight

Keeps me safe, protected

I can feel him close behind me

And the corner of a Valentine in his pocket

It's in French

He doesn't speak French

And it's not signed

From his girlfriend

He tells me

His girlfriend

He picks me up

Sweeps me off my feet

And I laugh

Despite myself

But I can still feel it against my thigh

His girlfriend

I wish I could rip it up

Shove the pieces in his mouth

And make him eat the words

His girlfriend

He holds me to him

I feel warm, happy

I can feel him right beside me

And the corner of a Valentine in his pocket.
