MIRC  

Run the installation program. If you are unsure of the options that are offered, just accept the defaults that the program selects.

Now the program is installed you are ready to add the information you'll need to connect to our chat room. Start the program by double clicking on its icon on the desktop...

When the program first runs you will see an introduction screen...click on the close window 'X' to continue on to the program...

Now you will see the mIRC Options window, click on the 'Add' button in the top right hand corner...

This will bring up the mIRC Add Server window, which will have several spaces to fill in...
In the 'Description' box put a name by which you will know this server, in our example we've used 'Bondage IRC Server'.
In the IRC Server box put irc.bondage.com
The other boxes can be left as they are....just click on the 'Add' button...

You will then be brought back to the mIRC Options window and the new server will be listed, ready for you to connect to...

Before you can connect though, you will need to fill in a few details...

In the 'Full Name' box, put some information about yourself
Important note: This information is visible to other chat users, we do NOT recommend you put your real name in this box.
In the 'E-Mail Address' box, put your email address, or a fake one if you prefer.
In the 'Nickname' box put the name you would like to appear as in the chat rooms.
In the 'Alternative' box, put a variation or alternative nickname, this name will be used if your first choice is not available.
Note: If you choose a name that already belongs to someone else, you will be notified when you first connect, at which point you will have to choose another using the command /nick newname.

You are now ready to get online... Click on the 'Connect to IRC Server' Button...

Once you have connected to the server, you may get a message telling you that your nickname is owned, if this happens just type in /nick newname (where newname is another name you'd like), otherwise, your choice of name is fine and you can proceed to the next step...

You will see the mIRC Channels Folder window, click on the 'Add' button...

This will bring up the mIRC Add Channel window...
In the 'Channel' box type in #The_Coffee_House
Click to select the 'Auto-join channel on connect' box (this will automatically join you to our room when you next connect)
Then click on the 'OK' button...

This will return you to the mIRC Channels Folder window, where you will now see #The_Coffee_House in the list.
Double click on #The_Coffee_House to join the channel...

Congratulations! You're now online with mIRC and in the #The_Coffee_House chat room!
