Relationships which involve some level of exchanging power; that is, a submissive allowing themselves to be controlled and guided by a dominant and the dominant taking the responsibility of the safety and well-being of the submissive. Whether it is a limited, short-term exchange of power or a lifelong, total commitment, these relationships are all described as D/s and all are valid as long as the people involved are happy and satisfied.
