The following software is available free of charge. As such, TimeManager and ClockIn are freeware. Both are posted at FreewareFiles.com
Q: Need to track hours worked for a group of employees?
A: If you have one or more networked PCs using the TCP/IP protocol you can use the ClockIn and TimeManager to do so. Click these next two links to download ClockIn and TimeManager
About TimeManager: TimeManager is a server program that records and displays the hours worked for a group of employees.
1. Installation:
Installation of TimeManager is easy. Copy TimeManager.exe to a PC.
2. Configuration:
Run TimeManager and select the IP Address menu option. Choose Change Port… and write down the IP Address listed. This IP Address will be used when ClockIn is configured. See the screen shot below. In this example the IP Address is 192.168.0.101 . Note if the IP address of the computer TimeManager is running on changes (i.e. DHCP) then ClockIn will have to be reconfigured.

3. Using:
Select the Employee menu option to add a new employee. Each employee needs a password to clock in (begin work) and clock out (end work.) Use the Change Password… to change the employee’s password. To remove an employee select the employee from the Employees list. Then select the Employee menu option and select Remove.
The TimeManager collects the data from any ClockIn when an employee clocks in or clocks out.
- To see if an employee is clocked in or out today look at the status in the Employee listing.
- Click on the calendar to see employee work for a different day. If the date in the calendar is not today, the hours worked for the week from Sunday to that day are listed in the Week column.
- Click on the AM tab to see work done in the morning and the PM tab to see work done in the evening.
- Place the mouse cursor over one of the green shaded work areas to see a window displaying the time the employee worked. See the screen shot below.

About ClockIn: ClockIn is a client program that connects to TimeManager and allows an employee to clock in or clock out.
1. Installation:
Installation of ClockIn is easy. Copy ClockIn.exe to any networked PC using the TCP/IP protocol.
2. Configuration:
Run ClockIn. The first time ClockIn is started the user will be prompted for an IP Address and a port. Enter the IP Address you obtained when you configured the TimeManager above and choose the Connect button. See the screen shot below. If the connection fails try a Port value of 2501 after you have changed the Port value to 2501 in the TimeManager Change Port dialog. Both the Port values in the TimeManager and ClockIn must be the same.

3. Using:
Assuming ClockIn connects successfully to TimeManager, a dialog will be displayed in which a user can select their name to clock in or clock out. The button will read “clock in” or “clock out” depending on the employee’s current status. When an employee clocks out the hours worked for that day are displayed. See the screen shot below.
