Loyalty programs provide an effective way
to track customer buying habits. Each time a customer uses
his/her card, information is entered into a database. This
information can be used to better communicate with your
customers. Customer information-including name, address,
date of birth and phone number- is collected either by swiping
the customer's driver's license or by filling out an entry
form. The customer receives a custom-designed magnetic
stripe card which is then used to track the participant's
buying habits including buying frequency and items purchased.
Accumulated points can be redeemed for a variety of things
including in-store discounts, electronic gift certificates and
cross-promotions with other area merchants or vendors.
Customer interest and participation is generated by allowing
participants to choose the reward or level of participation
they want.
