WOW!

The Kenyon Cup Regatta is over.  The commotion has settled down.  And there are only a couple of racing weekends left in our sailing season.

The Lomme Beer Tasting Party kicked off the weekend and was a big success.  The Midieval Times Party was lots of fun.  The Selly Barton Memorial Brunch Party was incredible.  The Grillerama Party was action packed.

Oh yeah, and the racing was pretty good, too!

Everybody pitched in!!  Thank you to everyone!!  This K-Cup went smoother than any other that I can remember.  Thank you members.

Racing:

The fleet is now up to 14 scoring skippers.  We added Joanne and Bill over the K-Cup weekend.

Matt K, Matt L, John Smith, and Rich Goodell have made great strides forward in their boat speed.  That is exiciting.

I've added the "Long Island Boat" to "Relentless" on Team Fraser.  Soon the new boat should be ready and Team Fraser will need a triple deck trailer to get to regattas!

If anyone knows of someone who would like to join the club as a skipper, a crew, or a non-sailing member....now is the time to bring them to a party.  This would give them a head-start on next year.

Club Business:

I expect to hear a motion at this Sunday's party that will propose to change our scoring system for 2009.  We have been granting boats that go to the Nationals and Internationals with their season average for all of the club races they miss while on the road.  With the growing fleet it is believed that now we can reward boats that attend any Y-Flyer out-of-town regattas with the same season average score.  This might encourage Lashaway boats to travel to a regatta with the express intent of passing "good-will" to other Y-Flyer fleets.  Of course, these travelers should have the Lashaway "Fight Song" committed to memory and be willing to stand up and sing it loud and clear while attending an out-of-town regatta!

Also a motion should be entertained to create a new club officer level position of "Chief Club Advisor."  This should be a person who is interested in the Rules of Racing and who enjoys making heart breaking decisions!  The job would entail setting up, and heading protest committees whenever needed.  This also would be the person we go to when we are in need of a decision when situations arise that are social and/or racing in nature.  A person of honesty and trust.  A person who is wise.

So, this Sunday we will discuss these issues.  A good reason to attend and bring a friend or neighbor with you.

Sunday, August 10th:

As if the Kenyon Cup wasn't enough fun to last all year.....this Sunday we are partying at the Latham's house!!!  Bring your own drinks and a snack to pass....and a friend or relative.

The theme for this week is "Wear Your Favorite Color!!!"

There will be two prizes.  One for who is covered with the most of their favorite color.  And the other prize will be for whoever has the best story about their favorite color!  For example: "When I was in first grade my teacher used to hand out red apples when we did our homework...."  Okay, so all of you can come up with a better story than that......let's hear it Sunday!

And be advised:  This competition may be very hard to judge if some people all have the same amount of color on....so remember your undergarments!!

Racing starts at 1:30PM somewhere on the lake....the party should start between 4 and 5PM.  We start the business meeting at 5:30PM!

This season is short!  Everyone should try to attend and bring a friend!

Sincerely,
El Presidente
