GL1200 Ltd. and SEI Repair -- The T1 Sensor The T1 Sensor is located on the top of the air cleaner cover. The Connector is colored GREEN This unit is held in place with a spring clip type retainer on each side of the connector, that has to be GENTLY pulled back and out in order to release the connector from the sensor. With the Connector REMOVED and the KEY ON, measure between the two terminals (towards the ECU side) with the VOLTMETER. You should have a reading in the 4.75 - 5.25 VOLT range. If you do NOT, check the wiring harness/connectors back to the ECU, looking for a bad connector. It is possible that you have lost the 5 VOLT Regulated Power Supply in the ECU. With the KEY OFF and the Connector REMOVED, Measure across the T-1 Sensor TERMINALS with an OHMETER. You should have a reading between 2K-3K Ohms at room temoerature. (2000 - 3000 Ohms.) If the reading is not within this range, REPLACE the T-1 Sensor. ADDITIONAL CHECKS FOR THE T-1 SENSOR Remove the T-1 Sensor. Suspend it in water so that it os NOT touching the sides of the pan. APPLY HEAT. (The kitchen Stove will work) As the temperature rises, the Ohms should fall back to 300 - 400 Ohms at about 175 Degrees. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment: It doesn't say this in anything that I have read about the GL1200 LTD, but it seems to me that 175 Degrees is very warm for the intake air temperature. I would be carefull about heating the sensor up much more than this. Use a thermometer in the pan, or be able to monitor the water temperature in some way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Table of Contents
