GL1200 Ltd. and SEI Repair -- The Throttle Sensor The Throttle Sensor is located on the left side of the engine block, in the front left section of the Air Box. The Throttle Sensor Connector is at the Top Front of the frame near the Steering Stem. It is a 3 pin connector on the left side. Disconnect the plug and measure between the RED/White Stripe wire and the GREEN/Blue Stripe wire. Sensor resistance should be 4 - 6K Ohms. (4000 - 6000 Ohms) Check for continuity between the: * RED/White Stripe wire and the #29 ECU Connector Terminal. * GREEN/Blue Stripe wire and the #3 ECU Connector Terminal. * LIGHT GREEN and the #11 ECU Connector Terminal. Check for VOLTAGE with the KEY ON between the RED/White and GREEN/Blue wires. The VOLTAGE should be between 4.75 - 5.25 Volts. REPLACE the connector, and with the KEY ON, Check for VOLTAGE from the LIGHT GREEN wire to GROUND (I SHARPENED the Meter lead and stuck it through the insulation carefully.) The Voltage should vary SMOOTHLY as the throttle hand grip is opened and closed. If it DOES NOT, REPLACE the Throttle Sensor. The Throttle Sensor is installed with Break Head Bolts. If you need to replace it, I would suggest that you let a qualified mechanic do the job. Replaceing the Throttle Sensor involves removing the Air Chamber from the engine, center punching and then drilling out break head part of the old bolts, installing the new sensor, adjusting the new sensor and finally tightening it into position by breaking off the bolt heads. Then replace the Air Chamber back on the engine. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Table of Contents
