SPECIAL WORKS

If you would like to know more about these special works, please contact me in e-mail.

"Snowflake 2"
This is one in a series of twenty images that begin with actual microphotographs of snow crystals. They were taken over a hundred years ago by Wilson Bentley and are now copyright-free. I print them in sepia tone on fine art paper, hand tint each with watercolors and add a finishing sparkle. This digital image is only an impression of the work, which is impossible to do justice online.

"Slim and Ola Mae, circa 1950"
This is one of my first SepiaTints, a term I coined to describe this custom work. With clients' vintage family photographs, I restore and then print the image in sepia tone on fine art paper. Finally I hand tint with watercolor pencils according to the client's wishes or my own intuition.

"Lighting the Labyrinth, Fire 3"
I am currently working on a new series, Lighting the Labyrinth, which reflects one full moon night in a friend's hand-built labyrinth. We began with light from the sun at its setting, moved to do several shots by candlelight, or fire, and finished with a shot solely by moonlight.

Viva la Vida!
These are two of my newest works that I call 'constructs" because they are created in PhotoShop. To a degree they could be done by hand--or otherwise more traditionally--but I sought the challenge of learning to do it digitally. A colleague told me that this process also lends the work an air of mystery, which, of course, is highly desirable in art.
