The North Bay Rural Fire Protection District is a fire and emergency services organization that was formed in 1970. The current district covers 29.5 square miles of suburban an rural areas just north of the cities of North Bend and Coos Bay. In 1972, citizens of the community were concerned that there was no fire protection for themselves or their neighbors. They packed petitions door to door obtaining signatures and formed the North Bay Rural Fire Protection District #9. The message was clear then and reflects our mission statement today, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors."
