If you feel an earthquake:

bulletDrop & protect yourself
bulletMove quickly inland and to high ground when shaking stops
bulletDo not return to lowlands or shoreline after the first wave

 

Create an emergency plan, discuss it with the entire family, and identify your escape routes.

 

Supplies to consider:

bullet1 gallon of water per person, per day
bulletNon-perishable canned goods
bulletManual can / bottle opener
bulletchange of clothing / rain gear
bulletSleeping bags / bedding
bulletFirst aid & prescription medications
bulletReading / sun glasses
bulletFlashlight & cell phone
bulletBattery powered radio
bulletCash & credit cards
bulletExtra keys & knife
bulletList of contact numbers
bulletMatches or lighter
bulletSpecial items for children, disabled, and elderly
