Tender Training Helps Rural Fire Departments Work TogetherBy Kristina Nelson
HAUSER - With volunteer numbers down, local rural fire departments are relying
more and more on each other to help out on fire calls. Some of those
departments recently met in Hauser for some important training.
Millington, North Bay, Charleston and Hauser all brought out their Fire Tenders for a familiarization exercise. Many departments require back-up from the other districts, but many times the Tenders and equipment can look different or even be in different places. Hauser Fire Chief Jerry Wharton says this type of training is important, especially for rural departments because it not only familiarizes each district with the different equipment they may be using, but it also increases the amount of resources available to help fight the fires.
