 "The Leader and Kalkaskian," Kalkaska, Michigan, Thursday, October 11, 1934:

Old Boardman Resident Passes at Detroit Home

Funeral services were held this afternoon for the deceased Mrs. Mack Gardner, who passed away Tuesday at Detroit.   The body was brought to South Boardman, old home of the deceased, for burial.

Mr. and Mrs. Gardner have spent much of their time in Detroit for the past 12 years.   In-between times they have returned to their little farm home near South Boardman.   Both are well known in Boardman Township where they raised their family and were known as pleasing and generous neighbors.

Besides Mr. Gardner, the deceased leaves four sons and two daughters.   Oral of South Boardman, Clarence of Traverse City, Frank and John of Detroit, Mrs. Eulace(sic) Christopher of near Traverse City, and Nellie of Detroit.

Rev. A.R. Ellis of South Boardman, L.D.S. Church conducted services while L.M. Clapp was in charge of arrangements.

Geo.M.Gardner, a Pioneer, Dies:  

George Mack Gardner, 85, South Boardman pioneer, passed away at the home of his son, Clarence Gardner, 611 West Eighth street, early Sunday morning after an illness of two years.

Mr. Gardner was born March 29, 1852, at DeWitt, Michigan, and united in marriage to Orma Pearson at Lansing in 1878, moving from Lansing to South Boardman in 1879.   Born to this union were five sons and two daughters, Clarence of Traverse City, Oral of South Boardman, George of Billings, Montana, Frank of Flint and John of California, Mrs. Nellie Doherty of Detroit, and Mrs. Eunice Christopher of Peninsula Township.   One daughter preceded Mr. Gardner in death at the age of seven years.   His wife preceded him in death in 1935.

Left to mourn their loss are 20 grand children and three great grand children, besides a host of friends and neighbors.   The body will remain at the Sampson Funeral Home until time of services, to be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Latter Day Saint's church at South Boardman, with Rev. Alvin Ellis officiating.   Burial will be made in the South Boardman cemetery.

Funeral services for George Mack Gardner, 85, a pioneer resident of South Boardman, whose death occurred Sunday at the home of his son, Clarence Gardner, 611 West Eighth street, following a two years' illness, were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Latter Day Saint's church at South Boardman, Rev. Alvin Ellis officiating.   Interment was made in the South Boardman cemetery.

Services Tuesday for Aged Pioneer

G.M. Gardner Dies at Age 84

G.M. Gardner passed away last Sunday morning at Traverse City Hospital, at the age of 84.

Mack, as he was always called, came to Kalkaska when the county was young, and lived in or near South Boardman for over 50 years.

His wife preceded him in death over 2 years ago.

He is survived by five sons: Clarence of Traverse City, Michigan; Oral of South Boardman, Frank of Flint, George of Arizona, and John of Hollywood, California; two daughters: Mrs. Nellie Doherty of Detroit, Michigan; and Mrs. Eunice Christopher of Old Mission, Michigan.

Funeral services were held at South Boardman at the Latter Day Saints Church Tuesday, May 11, at 2:30 PM.  Rev. A.R. Ellis officiated and burial was made in the South Boardman Cemetery.

4. George Mack GARDNER Jr. (George M.) was born 25 Aug 1887 in South Boardman, Kalkaska Co., Michigan. He died 23 Jan 1970 in Vista Twp., San Diego Co., California and was buried 27 Jan 1970 in Eternal Hills Cemetery, Oceanside, San Diego Co., California.

 

5.  Frank Dayton GARDNER (George M.) was born 6 May 1889 in South Boardman, Kalkaska Co., Michigan. He died 5 Sep 1980 in Largo, Pinellas Co., Florida and was buried Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Pinellas Co., Florida.

DEATH of FRANK DAYTON:

From an unidentified St. Petersburg, Florida, newspaper, possibly the St. Petersburg Times:

 

Gardner, Frank Dayton, 91, died Friday (Sept. 5, 1980).   Born in Boardman, Michigan, he came here in 1966 from Flint, Michigan and was a retired tool and die maker for General Motors.   He was a member of the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints.   Survivors include his wife Veneta; two sons, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

 

6.  Fern Adel GARDNER (George M.) was born 23 Apr 1892 in South Boardman, Kalkaska Co., Michigan . She died 9 Oct 1919 in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan and was buried 12 Oct 1919 in Boardman Township Cemetery, South Boardman, Kalkaska Co., Michigan

DEATH of JACK:

"Marin Independent Journal," Novato, California, Monday, March 14, 1966:

 

Funeral for Jack B. Gardner, 65, of 3 Hillside Dr., Kentfield, who died Friday in a local hospital after a long illness, was scheduled this afternoon at Chapel of Marin Funeral Home in Novato.

 

A native of South Boardman, Michigan, Gardner had lived in Marin Co. for 30 years.   For the past 5 years, he worked for the Salvation Army.   Interment will be at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
