Balancing Spell for the Equinox (from Lycia's spellbook)

The following items are required:

1 white (or light-colored) stone
1 black (or dark-colored) stone
1 circle of white cloth
1 circle of black cloth
1 white cord
1 black cord
1 feather
soil

Spellwork

The high priest and high priestess sit opposite one another with the ritual materials between them. The rest of the coveners sit in a circle around them with hands joined.

The cloth circles are placed one on top of the other in the center.

The priestess sprinkles soil in the center of the cloth, saying: “We are Earth”
The priest places the feather in the center of the cloth, saying: “We are Sky”

The priestess places the black stone in the center, saying: “We are Moon”
The priest places the white stone in the center, saying: “We are Sun”

Coveners begin chant:

Earth and Sky, Moon and Sun
Now the magic is begun

As coveners chant, the high priestess gathers the cloth circles together around the contents. The high priest twists the cords together and then ties the bundle. Then the high priest holds the bundle while the high priestess knots the cords. The high priest and high priestess together lift the bundle up in the air between them.

The chant becomes:

We are all
All are One

The high priestess then hands the bundle to the outer circle. The bundle is then passed around the circle (doesil) for each Covener to knot the cords. When the passage is complete the last Covener passes the bundle to the high priest, who returns the bundle to the center, still holding it in both hands. The high priestess covers his hands with her own.

The chant drops to a whisper. Everyone should then close their eyes and envision the bundle as a silver sphere.

The chant transforms to the free-form chant. As it swells, everyone should envision the silver sphere expanding to envelop us all.

When the chant ends, the high priest and high priestess open their eyes and, looking into each others eyes, say (together): “The balance is restored.”

Coveners say,
United in this purpose are we.
As we have willed it, so mote it be.

The charm created in this balancing spell will be kept at the Covenstead to promote harmony.
