Austin + Absence = Relief |
Last week, I touched on many topics in my column. One of those topics was that Edge seems to be missing something that can propel him into the main event spotlight. An overwhelming majority of you agreed with me. In fact, most of you said Edge was missing the one word that ironically fits his name, Edge. Once Edge develops more of an “edge”, he will be much better off.
This week I would like to vent my feelings on the possible return or non-return of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Many people believe he will be back in the WWE soon. Is that the best thing for wrestling right now? Personally, I could care less whether he steps in the ring again.
If you have followed my columns for quite some time, you will remember a past column I wrote many months ago stating how predictable Stone Cold had become. All of his feuds ended by Austin beating his opponent at a PPV with the Stone Cold Stunner. After a while, his storylines became extremely predictable and extremely boring.
It might have been the best thing for Austin and the wrestling world when he walked out on the WWE and his fans. Do I dislike Stone Cold? No, I do not dislike Stone Cold. In fact, I used to be a big fan of Austin. I just grew tired of the same stuff week after week from the “Bionic Redneck”.
Austin should continue to stay away from wrestling and let the younger talent continue to develop. Since Austin’s departure, we have seen the rise of Brock Lesnar, Booker T, Kane, RVD, Bautista, Randy Orton, John Cena, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, and many others. We are seeing the development of new and exciting main event wrestlers. These wrestlers could not get their shots because of Austin’s smothering character and boring storylines.
Stone Cold had a wonderful ride in the world of wrestling. He was on top for many years and certainly made his impact on wrestling forever. Thank you Austin for all the years you gave us, but please, don’t come back anytime soon.
Stone Cold Steve Austin’s departure brought about shock and confusion. Fans, friends, co-workers, and many others asked the question, “Why?” Right now, I ask all of you, is wrestling better off without Austin for a while?
Other cranium thoughts………
Can someone please explain to me why Jeff Hardy puts that ridiculous paint on half of his body? Not only does it look completely stupid, he puts it on half of his shoulder and down one arm. What does that mean? Is it supposed to have a meaning or purpose behind it when he come to the top of the stage and stands under the black light while he dances like a moron and glows in the dark? I just do not get it. If someone out there does get it, please explain it to me.
Not only does Jeff have an uninteresting and weird character, so does his brother Matt. What in the hell does Matt Hardy Version I mean? How did he come up with that and what is its meaning?? It’s completely ridiculous. Unlike his brother Jeff, at least he does have a personality to work with. Also, please stop with the dumb hand gestures as if you are part of some West Coast gang. Maybe the Hardy’s should do us all a favor and join Austin.
I have enjoyed Kurt Angle over the last several months. He is funny, unpredictable, entertaining and continues to impress me in the ring. His new bald look brought a change to his character and that change should also develop into another WWE title reign.
I want to also give kudos to Eddie Guerrero. He has been very funny over the past weeks and I find his backstage segments hilarious and entertaining.
