Brock Who?

If you have watched RAW and Smackdown the past couple of weeks, you have seen a huge man enter the ring with a tattoo down his spine and Paul Heyman at his side. He has destroyed everyone who has crossed his path and raised the eyebrows of many wrestling fans. This man goes by the name, Brock Lesnar. Who is Brock Lesnar?  He is a massive and athletic human being who could very well be the next Superstar in the world of wrestling.

Everyone has been salivating at the idea of seeing Bill Goldberg in the WWF. Well, with Brock Lesnar, you get an upgraded version of Goldberg. Lesnar will make a bigger impact on wrestling than Goldberg could ever dream of making.

He is not only bigger and stronger than Goldberg, but he also possesses far better wrestling skills than Goldberg. When you witnessed Brock Lesnar enter the ring and destroy Spike Dudley on RAW, you witnessed the debut of a future WWF Champion. The question now remains whether or not the WWF will use him properly.

When Bill Goldberg debuted in WCW, the writers pushed him to the moon. Some people say the push Goldberg received so early in his career, caused him to get a big head and it basically destroyed his pro wrestling career.

How should the WWF writers push Brock Lesnar? The writers did a good job of debuting Lesnar. They have already portrayed him as a vicious threat to other wrestlers and someone who can hurt you without breaking a sweat. Now, they must take things at a slow pace.

Start Lesnar out in the Hardcore division as I stated in a previous column a last month. After he captures the Hardcore title and decimates the entire division, move him up to the IC title race. Make him work his way through the entire roster until he attacks the World title contenders.

Lesnar should go on an undefeated streak like Goldberg did in WCW, except do it in a more subtle way. Do not have the play-by-play analysts drive the undefeated streak down the throats of the fans every week. Let Lesnar do his thing for several months. When he reaches the level of The Rock, Stone Cold, Kane, The Undertaker, Triple H, etc., then start informing the fans of his undefeated streak.

The future of wrestling depends on men such as Brock Lesnar. He is a young and talented wrestler who is a fresh new face for the fans to watch. Wrestling fans love to see a fresh face come into the business and make an impact quickly.

They start pulling for the impressive young star and they want to tune in to the wrestling shows every week to see how their young star will perform. It’s just like a rookie in pro football or pro basketball. Fans followed him during his college years, and now they get to watch him showcase his talents in the big leagues. They want to see their favorite athlete make it all the way to the Championship game and win the big one.

The same thing applies to wrestlers. If a wrestler has the right look and performs well in front of the crowd, the fans will begin to cheer him. Brock Lesnar is the young star the fans can get behind and watch him take his career all the way to the Championship.

It will take some time, but he will be there one day. Just like The Rock, Stone Cold, The Undertaker, and Triple H, Brock Lesnar must pay his dues and work his way up to the Championship ranks. It will be exciting to watch Lesnar make that climb. The possibilities are endless at this point.
