The Next 20 Years |
It has been several weeks since I last wrote a column. I have had many personal things, all of which are good, keep me from focusing on professional wrestling and I apologize to all my readers. In my last column, I talked about how I believe RVD was (Rob Very Deserving). It appears the writers for WWE and myself did not share the same belief. In any case, I still believe RVD should get his run with a major championship. Maybe it will happen in the near future.
Since I have provided Internet readers with “Chair Shots to the Cranium”, I have touched on many subjects throughout my writing career. Some of those topics included women in wrestling, the downfall and buyout of WCW, masked men in pro wrestling, and so many other topics I can’t possibly name at this moment.
Through all of these topics, I have been able to channel my love for wrestling through my writings to you, the wonderful fans of pro wrestling. Since doing so, I have heard from so many people around the world and also heard many of your ideas and thoughts. Some of you disagree with my views, but many of you agree with them.
Knowing I can spark an even greater interest in professional wrestling in all of the readers of my column makes me want to keep writing for many years to come. However, I can’t do it without the continued support and feedback from all of you. So, I’m calling all of you out in this column. I’m asking every one of you who are reading this column to respond to me.
I want to hear your thoughts on where the world of wrestling will be 20 years down the road. Wrestling has changed dramatically over the past 20 years. What will another 20 years do to the business? Will the next 20 years see the death of professional wrestling or will it see the emergence of the greatest form of live entertainment to grace the earth?
We are seeing wrestlers emerge today that are far more athletic and entertaining in years past. As wrestling fans, we are also seeing a totally different style of “Sports Entertainment”. Will the next generation of wrestlers and the new form of “Professional Wrestling” take it to even greater heights?
My thoughts on the matter are that things will either stay the same or decline dramatically. I believe pro wrestling has reached its peak. From here on out, it will remain the way it is and lose the interest of many fans due to boredom, or it will completely decline in its entertainment aspect and lose the interest of many fans. Either way you look at it, wrestling will not be as big as it is today 20 years from now.
I’m sure many of you just read that and said, “ Mr. Goforth is completely out of his mind and does not know what the hell he is talking about”. I hope my outlook in completely inaccurate and I am proven wrong 20 years from now. Whether that be the case or not, I have at least sparked a thought in your cranium to chew on for a while.
If you ask me why I feel wrestling will decline in the future, I’m not sure I can give you a specific reason why. All I know is what I feel. Looking at the world of wrestling now and thinking of the day when Vince McMahon will no longer be on this earth, I can’t help but think it will not be more outstanding than it has been in the past 20 years.
If you believe I am wrong or if you believe I am right, let me hear what you think. You are the reason I write my columns. Without the continued support and continued feedback from you, my columns have no purpose except to serve as a personal hobby.
As always, email me at Chairshots2head@yahoo.com. It may take me a while, but I will respond back to each and every one of you.
