The People's Heel

No Way Out is in the books and it is now full steam ahead towards Wrestlemania. WWE put on a pretty good pay per view and I believe they have set things up nicely for the biggest PPV of the year.

This week, I’m not going to concentrate on one particular topic. I would like to touch on several topics that are running wild in my cranium.

· Let me be the first to stand up and applaud The Rock’s performance as a heel. Whether you boo him or cheer him, The Rock is playing his new heel role very nicely. He is absolutely hysterical at times. I think he is funnier now than he was as a face. Unfortunately, The Rock was dealt this character from the fans. The majority of the fans choose to boo Rock and he has chosen to give the fans exactly what they want.

The Rock is a great heel and I get a lot of enjoyment from his character. He is more entertaining now than ever and is showing how well he can perform. The sign of a true wrestling superstar is one who can play both a heel and face wrestler to perfection. Look at past and present wrestlers who have done the same thing: Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Curt Hennig, Triple H, Booker T, Chris Benoit, Andre the Giant, Undertaker, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho and many more great wrestlers. Every wrestler I have mentioned has or will go down as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and all of them pulled off both character styles perfectly. The Rock should be commended on the great job his is doing considering the cards he was dealt without much preparation.

· I was not too thrilled to see Austin return. His return brought a predictable outcome and nothing new to the table. We have to put up with the annoying “What?” chants again and see an Austin that will be no different than he was when he “walked out”. As always, his match ended with a win via a stunner. The only difference is he delivered several stunners to land the victory. Now that is what you call putting a different twist on an ending.

· Edge will be absent from the wrestling world for several months while he recovers from his injury. I hope for Edge’s sake that he returns with a new look and a different gimmick. Edge is a phenomenal athlete who seems to missing that little something to put him over the top. Hopefully he will find that “little something” before his return.

· Will we finally see Booker T win a world title in the WWE? Things seem to be shaping up for a battle between Booker and Triple H. I hope the writers have finally wised up and realize that Booker has what it takes to take it to the next level and perform as a main event star. I think a Booker T/Triple H feud is just want wrestling needs right now. It is definitely different and maybe it will put the belt around someone else’s waist besides Triple H. I can’t wait to see how this develops.

· Scott Steiner must turn heel. It is that simple. He is not getting over as a face and should never be a face as long as he is “Big Poppa Pump”. That character debuted in WCW as a true nasty heel and that is how the character should remain. Turn Steiner heel and let him wreak havoc on the WWE like only the “Big Bad Booty Daddy” can. It will be a positive move for Steiner and for wrestling fans.

As always, please feel free to email your thoughts and comments on this week’s column to Chairshots2head@yahoo.com. Also, I hope all of you enjoyed the interview I conducted with Kid Kash last week. If you did not read that interview, you can do so on my website at www.chairshots2cranium.com. I will be also be posting an interview I conducted with the beautiful Missy Hyatt in the coming week. Until next time, please take care of yourselves.
