Overview From the dawn of civilization, at the moment of its creation, God ordained that man should keep six basic ethical laws. These Six Laws were created in order to form the foundation of a well-functioning unified society, and were first given to Adam and Eve and their progeny in the Garden of Eden. These Six Laws are general prohibitions against idolatry, blasphemy, homicide, illicit sexual relations, theft, and the positive injunction to establish courts of justice. Tragically, ten generations of mankind, from Adam's generation until Noah's generation, willfully rebelled against God's Six Laws. As a result of their transgression, God punished mankind with the Great Flood, which began on the 17th day of the second month (Cheshvan) in the year 1656 (-2105 CE). Only by the grace of God did the tzaddik (righteous) Noah and his family survive the mabul (flood). Noah and his sons built an ark according to God's specifications, an ark in which they found refuge from the deadly waters of the Flood. Page 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
