ViewPoint

Hello... is anybody out there?
September 2000

The following ViewPoint was intended to provoke thought and discussion.

Do you feel like you are the only person in the world who keeps the Seven Laws of Noah? And there's nobody around to talk to? Even if you are - don't feel alone... you have company! Many B'nei Noach feel exactly the way you do - and with good reason: most Noachides are isolated either intellectually or physically (or both) from their families, coworkers, friends, community, and other Noachides. Thankfully, many Noachides have Internet access, and are able to reach out to a virtual helping hand when the need arises. We are witnessing an increasing number of Noachide-centric Web sites, as well as an increase in the number of email discussion groups participants.

The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) is looking at December 25, 1990 as the "official" birthday of the WWW. That is the date when Tim Berners-Lee's WWW browser was first demonstrated as a working prototype. From my viewpoint, the birthdate is interesting, but I don't think I'm going to go there in this ViewPoint. <grin>

The Rebbe noted that the Internet and the World Wide Web is perhaps mankind's greatest tool of communication. With a few clicks of the mouse, we can navigate through cyberspace to the insides of computers in virtually every corner of the globe. The potential for learning Torah has profoundly increased, and resources and study materials are literally at our fingertips.

This month (as you can see), we are unveiling Chavurath B'nei Noach's redesigned Web site. We have designed it with you, the B'nei Noach user, in mind. We have incorporated a consistent global and local navigation system, and have provided you easy access to the information you are looking for.

In accordance with our desire to provide you easily accessible information, we have also provided you with links to other B'nei Noach Web sites. Although some of these sites do not offer the same service, we are of the strong opinion that you should be given enough information to make an educated choice in where and how you will gain your information. Our online information does not cost you anything - and we will strive to consistently provide you the quality content, information, and news you are looking for.

Sometimes, we feel like we are the only ones around. But if you are reading this, then you know that someone else is out here, and in the About B'nei Noach Sub-site, B'nei Noach Worldwide, you can find even more B'nei Noach to connect to. You really aren't alone.

Let us hear from you. Let us know what you think. Do you like the C"BN Web site redesign? Are you able to find what you are looking for?

We're here to provide you information, and we will do our very best to accomplish that goal. Thanks for your continued patience while we regrouped and redesigned over the past year. We will once again be answering our email in a timely manner (see Contact Us, below) and we're looking forward to hearing from you!

Be well.
