Description: Brit-rock, Stone Roses, Oasis, Blur, Verve, early Bowie, Beatles.
Biography: The Ivy Lines are an indie rock group from Modesto, CA. who are a part of the Modesto scene. They have grown out of the isolated Central California valley which lately has been a hotbed for musical talent (Granddaddy, Fiver, Built Like Alaska, etc.) However, The Ivy Lines bare no resemblance to these emo bands, being Mod rock and not emo.
The Ivy Lines are heavily influenced by such artists as The Verve, Stone Roses, Ziggy Stardust, Oasis, and psychedelic music. For the most part, they are optimistic, loveable, and sometimes pop-jangly, yet loud too. Some of their songs you can even dance to.
The main two members who formed The Ivy Lines are Patrick Coleman & Timothy Cullens, who work as teachers in the valley. They began the group back in 2003 after being introduced by Lucky Lew one night. Since, they have gone on to record a full CD album, produced by Lucky Lew (producer of Granddaddy, on V2 Records), which was later signed by the indie label Massive Star Records, and distributed by Super D and Independent Records.

Release:
Modesto group, The Ivy Lines, have arrived. They’re a people band, no doubt about that, music for the people. Their photo tells you that straight away, all with the psychedelic tinge it gives off. Four guys, with a mod appeal, standing on a hill of ivy and a background of colorful clouds behind them. It’s a great picture!
When I received their press kit, and opened it to review, the first thing I saw was this very picture. What’s the deal? It’s just that this is one of the times when the photo pulls you inside. It tells a story. Oh, I well know that it’s been digitally worked, but it goes with their music. So let’s get to it.
The Ivy Lines’ CD is very well made and produced. Full on professional and unique. I can hear influences ranging from early Oasis and Johnny Marr “guitaring”, to Bowie-esque early glitter. This guitar band uses little or no keys, and are not interested in any techno sounds in their music. It well suites them. They somewhat remind me of the Stone Roses in that the attitude is there, yet with some optimism.
This is The Ivy Lines’ first full CD album, full of very strong material. Both haunting (if jangle can be) and full of depth in songwriting. The opening track “Weight of the World” is a great starter. It’s a driving Brit-rock tune that begins with a guitar that sounds as if it were on a clock radio. A very present singer, Patrick Coleman, begins, “Open up your eyes, the sun flies. The dream world fades away. Can’t escape the way that was made, you know you’re on your way. Faster than a bullet flies, higher than a scraper in the sky.” The band crashes in. Oasis like, but U2 like emotion. Then I get it. The song is about a would-be rock star who wakes up to his own song on the radio, wondering why he’s doing it. Is it an internal conflict between selfish ambition and social responsibility?
Next song “I Love Your Eyes” is different in that I don’t think it is about love at all. Wow! It drives hard while avoiding any metal sound. Mod with seventies guitar by Tim Cullens, accomplishes a stadium rock feel. Big, with solos that rival any pro guitarist today. He’s that good. And I like the song. I told a friend of mine how cool this song was, and now he’s ripping the CD for his friend. But it’s all good, because The Ivy Lines’ CD says they allow sharing and sampling! Who does that? New mod thing? I really like this band.
Track three is “She Radiates”, a slow tune that goes powerful with psychedelic overtones. If the Stone Roses finally got back together and decided to cover a Wonderstuff or early Kinks song, it would sound like this. (I would have said Oasis, but it’s too sweet a love song for Liam’s sneer.) A great song for film, all with the big ending. Pretty and loving.
Other songs on the disk are deserving of review, but I only do the first three. And I have to run a web-radio station. The Ivy Lines are now added, if you didn’t know it before. I ought to get requests for these guys. Overall rating for this eponymous outing; A+. Well worth the purchase. Find it at CD Baby.Com.
The Ivy Lines, released by Massive Star Records May 2006.
Description: Winzenried aka Hollywood Drunks' music is a wild, eclectic blend of Pop, Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Alternative and anything else that felt good.
Biography:
"Man I feel different now!" Eric Winzenried exclaims from his new album "SWELL". It's a feeling that we all experience at various stages in our lives. We wake up and suddenly everything has changed but we're not sure how or why. You're just not the same person. "SWELL" is a coming of age album for a new adulthood. In Winzenried's case, it's one that has been severely delayed.
Once again combining an eclectic mix of musical styles, Eric Winzenried's second album is a free for all of pop, rock, reggae, hip hop, and alternative. It represents his life as an artist, constantly changing and evolving, never staying in the same place. And lyrically, whether he's crooning or flowing, his style is all over the map as well. But what remains constant is his honesty and his ability to laugh at himself and his life.
"SWELL" is an album that's both humorous and reflective. It's about adapting to the new circumstances and obstacles life likes to throw in our way."That Age" follows the aging process as it recognizes that, with each new year we're on this planet, more and more friends will drop out of our lives. And whether it's due to their death, or that they're just sick to death of us, we experience and mourn each loss. He sets a somber tone in "Lonely Feeling" which explores emotional loss. But then, follows it with the humorous "Wake You", where Eric, attending a friends party, laments the loss of his youth realizing, "Over half the people there I could've been their father." Entering the mind-blowing age of parenthood is sensitively addressed in, "Getting Young." You can almost see the bemused smirk on his face as he tries to convince himself and us that through each change he "feels swell in a perfectly unusual way." And his enthusiasm is contagious.
Winzenried's able to make us laugh at the absurdities in life, all the while encouraging us to live each day as if it's our last. And by the end of "SWELL" we can see the power and beauty of accepting each face-slapping change that life blindsides us with and we, too, feel "SWELL".

Description: A new blend of singer/songwriter mixing old influences with new : rock blues, folk and funk
Biography: Biography: Ken Macy
Ken Macy manages to challenge himself and create different scenarios and ideas for different songs. His various changes in musical styles range from rock, ballads and acoustic songs to jazz and blues allow the listener to experience different styles of music on one album. From CD to the stage, the transition to live performance becomes natural to Ken.
Ken was born on Valentine’s Day of 1983. Growing up in the country area of Westminster, Massachusetts, Ken developed a keen imagination and a free spirit. He grew up listening to rock 'n' roll bands such as The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and was heavily influenced by Bob Dylan.
After receiving his first guitar and taking lessons, Ken began to develop his own style of music, where he would later on write songs with local bands as well as on his own. The result of this hard work was his first solo album appropriately titled "Beginnings" released in April of 2002. There are seven tracks that reveal deep thoughts about friendships, life's questions, and the unexplainable. Ken recorded the album and wrote it in a period of two months: playing every instrument on the album as well as singing every note. He also produced the album and helped to create the concepts for the overall visual product on the CD.
Ken performs live at least two to three times a month. He mixes up his live sound by adding a variety of different effects to his vocals and guitar. He performs both original songs and cover songs and plays a different set list every time he plays live. Ken also created his own website: www.angelfire.com/rock/kenmacyproject.
Ken was also involved in creating his own television special on Leominster TV (which is a public access television station). Ken also released his second album “What If...” in June of 2006. The album has ten new original songs.
In addition to persuing his own solo career, Ken had played in three bands: Metro (an 80's Cover Band), The Andover Road Band (Blues Band), and Nitro Amigo (rock cover band).
Overall, Ken Macy is a self sufficient artist who works hard at creating his own music. "I have a lot left to experience and I hope to be involved in music for a very long time."

Description: I am a solo artist my CD Erupts is a footstompin, handclappin 70's mix. Not a journey back; but in remembrance - just good music.
Biography: My background in music began in August 1965 as a student tech. at Night Shade Studio's in Buffalo, N.Y.. During the 1970’s and 1980’s I traveled Coast to coast as a musician and a sound recording tech., with such bands as: Star Drive, Axton-Cross, Black Smoke, Atlas Ram and reggae artist’s Banana Band, playing large arenas, clubs, fairs and rockfest’s (opening for such acts as J.J. Cale, Allman Bros., at the Fillmore East in N.Y.C.). In the 1990’s, I retired from the grind of the road and started a family in Florida.
When 2000 rolled up, the creative juices reached a fevered pitch once again. I started creating music. This time the message: "rock and roll is alive and well". Having roots in the late 60’s when "rock" dropped the roll. I remember solid vocals, enriched guitar, brass horns, strong harmonies and foot stompin’ music. As of May 2006, I have composed and copyrighted 22 compositions 11 of which are on my CD... “Dave Magmaa Erupts” - this is a collection of Rock, Acoustic ballads, Q-Chord compositions, four part harmonies strong guitar and solid keyboards.
While exploring my CD may I turn your attention to Track #1..."She’s So Hot", currently on a compilation disc which debuted in Germany, December 2005. (Had ‘em rockin’ in the aisles).Track #4..."Off the Wall". Is a ghost story. Do you believe in ghost’s? Track #11..."Hurricane" living through the 2004 Florida storms. The sound is both unique and flirtatious. Relax ! Enjoy ! Dave Magmaa Erupts "It’s just good music"

Description: Sexy, driving and modern, Celeste Lear, electronic music programmer and skilled vocalist self produces down-tempo electronica and alternative music, with wicked beats, lushious layering and meaningful lyrics for the sophisticated listener.
Biography: “It would only seem fitting that the granddaughter of the inventor of the 8 Track Cassette player would have music in her genes.” - Editor, Reno Gazette Journal
“Celeste Lear is a hot new artist fusing her programming, guitar playing and vocal skills into some sexy down-tempo electronic music.”- Music Reviewer, AboutEntertainment.com
Emotionally charged, sexy and modern, Celeste Lear is a skilled programmer, vocalist and guitarist who produces and programs down-tempo electronica and alternative music. Combining wicked beats, meaningful lyrics, enveloping melodies and luscious layering, this "diva of the digital domain" Is a hot up and coming talent.
Passionate. Emotional. Creative. This 28 year old electronic music programmer, front woman and skilled guitarist has emerged from Southern California's underground music scene with her talented four-piece band. Following numerous musical pioneers from Topanga Canyon, just northwest of Los Angeles, Celeste Lear breaks through the confines of gender labels in rock and electronic music by self-producing contemporary, emotionally-driven songs in her home recording studio. Masterfully fusing the musical styles of down-tempo electronica, alternative rock and jazz - and inspired by artists such as Bjork, Sarah McLaughlin, Beck, POE, Lily Hadyn, Moby and Portishead - Celeste crafts unique, visceral and modern, unorthodox music with personally illuminating lyrics, reflective of a female’s perspective on life and struggle in these contemporary times.
Granddaughter of the late Lear Jet and 8-Track Cassette inventor, Bill Lear, Celeste comes from a remarkably creative, world renowned family. Celeste is aurally unique in that she is actually deaf in one ear, an injury sustained in a car accident at age 16. Dubbed “One Ear Lear” by her friends, Celeste went on to study music theory at Cabrillo Community College in Santa Cruz and earned a degree in sound engineering and music business from San Francisco State University in 2002. Celeste then caught the ear of producer David Hauser (Supreme Beings of Leisure), Celeste recorded a batch of songs with him in Reno, Nevada in 2003 and shortly after returning to Topanga received attention from Arista Records.
Celeste Lear is currently playing and touring with her talented band and Celeste’s "gripping" new full length album was released on Boutique Electronique Records in February of 2006. It is now available for purchase at CD Baby and for download on iTunes. Please visit her site at www.celestelear.com and also on MySpace at www.myspace.com/celestelear for more information, an award-winning music video and downloadable MP3s.
Celeste's song "Letter From A Train" won First Place in the "Dance" category in the international Pacific Songwriting Contest and had the same song placed on Femmes Fatales - The 12 Leading Ladies of Electronica, a compilation recording on Toucan Cove Records currently available at numerous retail outlets and on iTunes.

“I first heard Celeste Lear on Toucan Cove’s 2005 compilation “Femme Fatale”, which was a collection of female electronica artists. On her gripping and tantalizing album “The Echo Inside” she complements her laid-back downtempo electronica with dynamic vocals that ring with harmonic clarity. The beats are exploratory and don’t rely on the time tested normally dull breaks that so many artists turn towards. Funkiness is hidden behind several soundscape layers that finds Celeste whispering of tales that are fantastical yet somehow not too far from reality. Beautiful and engaging from the get-go.

Rosemary has been playing music since age 13. Having grown up in Nashville, TN, she has had the fortune of playing out in local clubs and venues for some time now. She has been involved with numerous musical projects, (Andy Bodean and the Bottom Boys, Communist, Tim Chad and Sherry, Ultra Vulgar, Flyaway Minion, and E-banditos, to name a few). Many of these can be found and downloaded through Black Label Empire (www.blacklabelempire.com). Rosemary partnered up with master engineer Patrick Himes (who has numerous credits and accolades to his name, including asst. engineer of Ryan Adam's "Heartbreaker") back in 2003. They began working on numerous singles and other projects. The two continue to record together at every possible opportunity. BLE anticipates a full-length record to come out from the duo sometime in early 2006. The album will reportedly be released on both CD and vinyl. At the moment, BLE has two singles and one short EP available for purchase, respectively titled "The Floater," "Cha-Cha in Your Ear," and "The Fabulous Life Of..."
Rosemary and Patrick tackle everything together on the recordings they produce. Generally, speaking, Rosemary writes all lyrics and music, initially. Patrick then comes behind her and "cleans up [her] mess," as Rosemary puts it. For the most part, all parts are played by both Rosemary and Patrick, with the occasional guest appearance. The two do everything themselves, including writing, recording, engineering, producing, etc.
Rosemary was recently chosen as an editor's pick from Downloads.com, and has received several other picks and reviews from various online indie radio sites. Most recently, Rosemary was accepted in to the internationally known SAE Institute, formerly known as Sound Audio Engineering, founded by Tom Misner. This new venture will undoubtedly only enhance her already noteworthy talents.

Description: Clearly audible in these tracks are the influence of the Beatles, Queen, Brian Wilson, David Bowie, the Zombies and other melodic and arranged pop-rock, but the end result is a genre of their own. Ambitious, melodic brit pop.
Biography: After playing in each others bands, songwriters Jaye Muller and Ben Patton
decided to join forces and create this very beautiful 10 song album, "Muller
and Patton".
Clearly audible in these tracks are the influence of the Beatles, Queen, Brian
Wilson, David Bowie, the Zombies and other melodic and arranged pop-rock,
but the end result is a genre of their own.
Jaye Muller was born in Berlin, East Germany, and moved to Paris, France,
where he recorded the hit album "We Are The Majority" as "J." He then moved
to New York to create the follow-up album but got sidetracked with creating
an internet company (j2) instead...
Now living in London he is concentrating on songwriting again, crafting
timeless melodies and sophisticated chord changes.
Ben Patton was born in Bakersfield, Vermont, USA, and relocated to Boston,
Massachusetts in his late teens. Over the years he has recorded many homemade
albums of his quirky pop-rock originals. Recently he released his first
commercial album, "Here's The Good News Album". Ben met Jaye in 2002,
and the two immediately recognised similar tastes and talents.
Muller and Patton's self titled debut album will be released in January 2005.
On the recording Jaye and Ben play most of the instruments themselves. The
music was entirely a joint effort, with Ben penning the lyrics on his own.

Description: Waking State's brooding, melodic rock and volatile live performance have won them fans across the country and in Europe. Their unique sound appeals to fans of Pink Floyd, early U2, and Coldplay.
Biography: Washington DC's modern rock band Waking State is on everyone's short list these days. Greg Roche ("DC's Rock Station" DC101) claims "this is a band that cannot be ignored," and Billy Zero (Program Director, XM Radio), insists "you must pay attention to this band." But a year ago, Waking State was going nowhere with a bullet.
The band's first full-length release, aptly entitled "Hang On" (2005), suffered numerous delays, effectively stalling the band's momentum for over a year. The album's producer Ted Comerford (Ebo, American Hi-Fi) affirms that "any other band [in that situation] would have quit." The original bass player did just that, forcing the remaining members of Waking State to hire fill-ins in order to keep playing shows while they waited months for production to be completed.
The release of "Hang On," however, was to be a turning point for Waking State. The album's moody, volatile music, with its rare depth and focus (evoking shades of early U2, Coldplay and Pink Floyd), placed in the top ten on Entertainment DC's poll of top albums and singles of 2005, and recently four songs were selected for an extreme sports video produced by O'Neill (release date: Fall, 2006). In addition, it attracted the attention of sonically divergent NYC bassist Nach Horn, who having stumbled across a couple songs from the album, made his way to DC to audition and ultimately join the band.
He found himself in good company. Goth-girl-next-door frontwoman Morrigan is a silken-voiced Janis Joplin, framed by the inventive riffs of guitarist and Detroit native Eric Anderson the band's muse and mad scientist - and the unhinged wallops of DC native drummer Brent Robbins. With the live show serving as the band's only fix for nearly a year, Waking State infiltrated the DC music scene's radar by building a reputation for passionate and professional live performances, which have led to consistently sold-out shows - including their November, 2005 CD release party at the nationally renown IOTA Club and Cafe.
Waking State's polished execution and stadium-sized sound have not only raised the bar locally; the band is now a regional presence outside of DC as well, with a swelling fan base in towns such as Detroit, Cleveland, Boston and Philadelphia. In addition, the band is just coming off a Spring tour that culminated in a showcase at SXSW 2006, sharing the stage with Sarah Bettens of K's Choice. While there are no guarantees - as this battle-tested rock band knows all too well - devout followers and newbies alike can rest assured that no matter what happens, Waking State is here to stay.

Mojomama releases highly anticipated second album
“Think Feel Love Listen:”
produced by Bill Thomas
July 10, 2006( Denver, CO )
Rocky Mountain based soulful, rock and funk band Mojomama releases a musical journey on their second album. Lead singer Jessica Rowand comes to life on this album and steps into your living room bringing you classic sounds reminiscent of Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin .The musical styles vary on the 11 songs from 70's R&B with horns to Latin flavored rock to Blues of the 40's era. The album is very mature and organic sounding throughout featuring great musicianship, thought provoking lyrics, and world class vocals . There is something for everyone on this album and when listened to in it’s entirety you will truly find yourself on a musical journey of your very own.
The members of Mojomama have been on the Colorado music scene for quite some time and have had their share of peaks and valleys in the music business. They write their own music as a collective group and are a 100% independent from any record labels or corporate entity. Mojomama is self managed and handle their own bookings and finances . The band is confident that this new album will bring them more attention on a regional and national level.
“Think. Feel. Love.Listen” is produced by Bill Thomas bringing his decades of experience into the studio, working with all types of artists from George Benson to George Clinton to Mojomama.” From the first band meeting with Bill it was made very clear that this record was to be our record as much as his record.”says Jessica Rowand “This relationship has stayed it’s course throughout the recording process resulting in an amazing album and an even more confident sounding band.”
Using the recording studio to their advantage made a huge difference during the recording of this great new record. Mojomama added stellar horn arrangements ,Hammond B-3organ and the Steinway grand piano to flesh out their sound. The addition of a wonderful gospel choir featured on the tribute to New Orleans track “Take it or leave it”, further adds to the joy and celebration of life evident in this new music.

Biography: Racecar The Band
Racecar is an adult alternative band from New Mexico.
"Racecar’s lyrics are brash and sensual, full of attitude and vibrant images that seduce inspiration. The music comes from a strong pop foundation, highlighted by haunting country influences establishing a powerfully dark ambiance. The songs on their debut are diverse and original making the first Racecar album a must listen.
----- VH1
Racecar is riding on a wave of moderate success from their first release while quietly recording a follow up album. They have cemented a vast and positive relationship with the indie community in hopes of propelling the next album into the lap of an interested lable. Right now distribution is handled by the band claiming eighteen countries digitally while thousands of labels, promoters, radio stations, and magazines worldwide receive the physical product. The next album is scheduled to be out sometime late in 2007.
Racecar is basically David Alyassin produced by Jeffrey Mettling. Jeff is a five time award winning recording artist with 16 nominations for "best musical production" as recognized by the New Mexico Music Industry Association. David is noted for receiving an “excellence in songwriting” award from VH1’s Save The Music Foundation while in competition with songwriters from Australia, Denmark, Israel, Germany and The US. VH1 Judges include Nora Jones, Shiela E., Rolling Stone Magazine and ABC Television.
The plan for the band is to make a lot of money, take over the world and slowly alter the destiny of humanity so check out their next release which is planned for late 2007.
"Their moniker indicates speed and dangerous recklessness. But that doesn’t translate to their songwriting; this band composes passionate alternative pop-rock tunes that are fit for mainstream radio. Located in New Mexico, Racecar’s sound isn’t as arid and parched as their environment. The vocals can be spacey with effects, which gives them a stadium like presence. Good well-written songs that are riddled with catchy hooks."

MUSICAL DESERT STORM FROM NEW MEXICO
New Mexico seems to be preparing for its own musical Desert Storm with great new bands like Soular and The Shins. Another hot alternative band making their way down from the enchanted desert is Racecar who is working on the follow up to their modestly successful debut. The self titled disc received awards from VH1, Radio Indy and Radio Gets Wild.
The album was also initiated into the roster of Hit Records Network out of Santa Barbara associated with heavies like Dishwalla and Steppenwolf. "Mystical Ages", the biggest song from the album, is being re-mastered and catalogued by Bullseye Records of Canada, host to such greats as The Guess Who.
The current recording sessions are building excitement, particularly with fans that have seen Racecar evolve from a dream into a compelling musical force. Racecar’s Producer and Engineer, Jeffrey Mettling of Elu and Trinity Studio says the new material should “turn a few heads". The next album is scheduled to be out sometime late in 2007. Biography: Jim Robert Started out playing Electric guitar/bass for a punk rock group known as 'Exhaused' which went out of style around 2001 (Exhausted and 'Help George' T-shirts can still be found in the general area of 11733). This small group comprised of either three or four young teenagers - depending on the point in time - played a select few shows and was known for equipment failure.
Jim then recorded "All the cool kids," and gathered musicians to form a pop-rock band that toured around the summer of 2005. Robert is currently in the studio Recording an album more along the lines of a romance novel as if attempting to make as many fans cry as possible. Expressive, enlightening, and emotive; for those who wear their heart on their sleeve; Jim Robert's Debut album, "All the Cool Kids," is a fusion of Emo, Indie, Pop/Rock, Electronic, and a capella. Interestingly, his most recent work delves deeper into the introspective, titled, "The Black and White Romance of the 21st Century" This album is more of an artwork than an album, as the songs tell the story of an epic relation, and outline the details of eternal, however neglected, Love.

Biography: The David Samuel Project
More than Pop/Punk
A fusion of guitar-edged pop/rock, soaring melodies and improvisational progression, The David Samuel Project strives to provide listeners with music that is as unique and original as it is entertaining. They strive to bring musical ingenuity, showmanship, and a sense of adventure to every venue it plays.
The Art of Music
Samuel could best be described as a cameraman with a guitar as he readily admits that his compositions and guitar work is crafted the way a cinematographer captures images on film. Samuel envisions his songs as pieces of a plot, a storyline of sound-images that invite listeners into his heart and soul. He achieves palettes of color from his Stratocaster, driving the guitar with funky wah-wahs, smooth sustain, walls of feedback, and any limitless combination of tonalities to color his songs with life. This is rock n' roll with all its roots intact, a hint of blues, a touch of funk and soul, a storm front of energy unleashed from the first note to the last song of the night
Record/Tour
The David Samuel Project will have Summer 06 bustling with tour dates that will be posted on the tour dates section to keep current. Promoting their new album and preparing for their forthcoming collection, the band is busier than ever!
Press
The David Samuel Project offers listeners something a little closer to the roots of rock. The jazz and funk influences are obvious, though the band pays homage not only to funksters Herbie Hancock, but to great rockers like Hendrix and Clapton. Definitely more rock than pop, The David Samuel Project is more likely to attract jet fans that NSYNC groupies.

Description: The Killbabies create music for people that are sick of music.
Biography: The story of The Killbabies begins in the spring of 1995 with an arts and music festival featuring sets by instrumental rockers Band X and space-blues band Through the Looking Glass. Enamored with the sonic instrumentals of Band X and dissatisfied with playing second fiddle in his own band, Jackie-O decided if ever there was a band that he should front, it should be Band X. At the venue's very next festival, Jackie was doing exactly that. Though the band ultimately produced more nonsense than results, a strong personal and musical bond was formed between Jackie and guitarist Copelinn. Within a month of Band X's demise, the pair had a new forty-five minute acoustic set written and honed- proving to both of them, that together, they had that certain intangible something that spawns quality material at a rapid rate. Despite this seemingly strong material, the pair decided that a strictly acoustic approach wasn't going to satisfy the desire for that ever elusive next level and the project was quickly scrapped. Over the next few years, they would play together in several different local bands with a varying supporting cast without ever finding that sound they were looking for. Eventually, they drifted apart and into their own worlds. *** In the winter of 2005, Jackie was working on songs with prodigious underground producer/programmer Sydney Suxx under the name The Jigsaw Revolution and helping out on rhythm guitar with Syd's own band, Subface, which features Brandon on bass. On the other side of town, Copelinn was hard at work on the third album from his critically acclaimed electronic project, The New Digital Sound. Though both Copelinn and Jackie had found the next level on their own, and though they hadn't seen each other in quite some time, being in the same room together for five minutes was enough to consumate what would soon become known as The Killbabies, with Sydney and Brandon rounding out the lineup. *** The first pressing of The Killbabies debut six-song EP "Little Black Rain Cloud" will be available Wednesday, July 19th.

Description: Semi-dark and aggressive EBM band Dimension Zero works with a variety of sounds, effects, and beats, which go haywire over amazing guitar builds and relentless beat patterns.
Biography: Dimension Zero, a concept born from the inspiration of the European computer underground "demo" scene in 1992. Unlike traditional musical projects, Dimension Zero originated as an online distributor for graphical/musical computer demos created by groups like Future Crew, ACiD, and The Humble Guys.
Monty Singleton, the SysOp (System Operator) of Dimension Zero was fascinated by the possibilities of what could be created on a personal computer and began experimenting with electronically generated music. Raised with a strong background in classical piano and an addiction to computers, creating electronic music was a natural progression and Dimension Zero was born.
"My lyrics are reflective of my views and philosophies about my cultural surroundings more than anything else." Monty explains. Raised under strong religious and cultural influences from the small town of Layton, UT, Monty says his lyrics "Let me explore and analyze my thoughts under a microscope. It's more of a discovery process about the society I live in and how that society shapes who I am. Hopefully this will help me learn more about myself and society as a whole."
Inspired from bands such as Depeche Mode, U2, Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Elvis, and Michael Jackson, Dimension Zero's music blends so many styles that Artist Interviews' writer Mauricio Saravia says "deserves to be in a category of it's own." With worldwide radio airplay with hits such as "Static Space", having a remix hand picked by Chuck D's founder Public Enemy from hundreds of other remixers, "Public Enemy No. 1 (Dimension Zero redu)" was included on the Japanese release of their album "Revolverlution", Dimension Zero has received critical acclaim from around the world. Fans include Germany's Snuff Pop Inc. founder Ant who called Static Space a "Masterpiece", and Gods Of Music reviewer Josh Richmond who said "Radio friendly, extremely good, and very impressive."
Dimension Zero Releases CD Single with first #1 CNET hit RePLiCa and Free Downloadable Mix Kit
Salt Lake City, UT - Dimension Zero has released a two-song electronic industrial CD single "RePLiCa." The title track, "RePLiCa" was CNET's first #1 hit on their new music service with over 10,000 downloads in one week.
To follow up the online success, Dimension Zero is giving away free Mix Kits of the single from their remix site www.mixkits.com. Fans and artists can download individual tracks of the songs, remix, and upload while retaining half ownership of all rights (mechanical, publishing, and writer). "Typically re-mixers only get a producer credit", says Dimension Zero frontman and previous Public Enemy re-mixer Monty Singleton. "How could a re-mixer not have contributed to the writing of the new track? With mixkits.com I wanted to change this mentality and give credit where it's due."
Review site Chain D.L.K says the new single is "A pleasant surprise in the form of a 2-song disc" and Garageband calling it "Epic Greatness." CNET describes the music as "Semi-dark and aggressive EBM band Dimension Zero works with a variety of sounds, effects, and beats, which go haywire over amazing guitar builds and relentless beat patterns."
The single can be purchased from Amazon, CD Baby, Tower Records, and iTunes. All music can be purchased direct from http://www.dimensionzero.com

Description: If you like The Band, Tom Petty, or just good old fashion rock n' roll, you'll LOVE The Wynn Brothers Band. High energy, inventive blend of past & future, compelling originals and commitment to excellence in writing and musicianship. . .
Biography: As their name suggests, The Wynn Brothers Band is led by two brothers, Thomas Wynn (guitar/vocals) and Jordan (bass/vocals). But the family ties don't stop there: their drummer dad, Tom Wynn, (Orlando 60's We the People and Capricorn Studios Recording Artists Cowboy), contributes several decades' worth of performing experience and anchoring melodious beat.
Obviously, it's hard for a family to remain exclusively male. Sister Olivia joins the Wynn men, adding her sweet yet haunting harmonies, as well as Jordan's bride Heather Lee, who also brings a full vocal range and theatrical intensity to the gritty mix of guys and guitars.
Though he's not technically family, Lee "Uncle Leroy" Simpson on lead guitar fuses 35-plus years of experience in rock, pop, blues, and bluegrass bands into his own classic flavor, And now joining the "family" is Sean Holcomb who dynamically enhances with nimble blues on second lead guitar, cello, and harmonica.
But The Wynn Brothers Band doesn't depend on gimmicks like patriarchy or multi-generationalism to distinguish them as a musical unit. Thanks in part to Tom, their music has an obvious historical grounding: Jordan and Thomas cite early exposure to bands such as those they resemble -- The Band, The Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Van Morrison, and Tom Petty -- as crucial influences on their writing. In the shadows of these giants, the band aims to create songs and a sound with at least as much staying power as that of their musical ancestors.
As a result, their music has something of a classic edge -- you might say it's rock that looks both forward and backward. In the words of one fan, "It's your favorite classic rock song you've never heard before." Somehow managing to sound simultaneously brand-spankin'-new and as comfortably familiar as your favorite blue jeans, the Wynn Brothers' sound escapes the pitfalls of imitation and bandwagon-ism by being just as inventive as it is authentic. They know how much they owe to their roots, as listeners cannot avoid realizing when they see the interplay between father and sons on stage, with both generations sweating the song to its limits. And for the band members, that's what it all pivots on: the song, the feel, the groove. Every guitar lick, every vocal, every throb of the bass or crash of the cymbals contributes to the whole sound, creating a unified, organic moment: the song.
Writing, producing, and performing together, The Wynn Brothers Band operates as democratically as a family should, thanks in part to their genuine familial affection for one another. In the same way that day-to-day family interaction spans many ups and downs and in-betweens, their music fosters a rare, fluid balance between grit and glamour, realism and hope.
With their full-length debut CD of original material FEEL THE GOOD just released (except for the cover Please Be With Me by Scott Boyer ASCAP) -- The Wynn Brothers Band just enjoyed a short stint with Cross Canadian Ragweed on their Florida tour and a premium showcase spot at this year's Florida Music Festival in Orlando, opening for the final night's headliner MOFRO. The Band just had a fantastic time at St. Pete's State Theatre and at South Florida's own Bamboo Room, showcased at Deland's Original Music Festival, the largest one-day music festival in the Southeast featuring independent original music, Hard Rock Live (Orlando), the Daytona BeachSide Live Music Festival, Orlando's Fiesta in the Park, the Winter Garden Hurricane Relief Festival, and the 2005 Daytona Biketoberfest. The Wynn Brothers Band was also 2005 Songwriters Showcases of America finalists for Band of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year.

Grabs you like a strong shot of smooth whiskey!
Reviewer: Mark Mulligan The Wynn Brothers Band grabs you like a strong shot of smooth whiskey! Entoxicating music and lyrics are only the beginning of this special group and their awesome CD "Feel The Good". All of the songs blend together on this CD to make a true musical journey. Some artists have a few good songs and then the rest of the CD is a bunch of filler. Not these guys (and girls)...every tune is a full course meal of musical melodies that come from the heart and soul. So reminiscent of the classic jam/southern-rock style bands like the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers and The Marshall Tucker Band. The Wynn Brothers have tapped into that cosmic thread of life, love, pain, and the need to understand that does bind us all.

Third Wish has done it again
As difficult as it may be to believe, the rock band Third Wish has come out with a great follow up to their debut album “Y”. Their latest release, “Careful What U Wish 4", features Lance Reynolds at the vocal helm, with a powerful wide range of subtle to highly explosive energies. Poised and ready to release on a deprived, starving, hungrier than ever “Rock’n’Roll” public. Third Wish bears witness to the new and in your face hard rockin’, heavy metal to blues music and lyrical song writing magic of Tony Blevins and Lance Reynolds.
Third Wish was founded in the late 80's by Tony Blevins, who soon joined forces with Lance Reynolds. Together they honed their song writing skills, combining powerful musicianship with spirited lyrics. Third Wish produced and released their first CD “Y” in 1996 to critical acclaim, but was cut short by a 5 year deliberation with their record company who failed to release the CD world wide. Hind sight being 20/20, Blevins and Reynolds stood to make a lot more money because they produced the album themselves and their record company dropped the ball so to speak. Seven years of hard work, touring, changing line-ups and frustration took it’s toll on Blevins and Reynolds and they both took a 2 year hiatus from music only to realize even more what they had with Third Wish.
Reunited and hungrier than ever, Blevins and Reynolds have put talent and advancing technology together and have released their new album “Careful What U Wish 4" under their own record label, Smokin’ Lamp Records. Confident that great music will always rise to the top and that the record industry’s greed has destroyed artistry in music for a few dollars more, Third Wish will stay with the independent underground music seen which will soon be the larger music industry in their opinion. “The artist can control every aspect of their music now, which is the way it should be for true expression” said Blevins.
Third Wish’s web site address is thirdwishrocks.com and on the site people can download the first 2 albums in mp3 format, individual songs for $.99 or the entire album for $6.99. People wanting to purchase the physical CD can click on the cdbaby link on the site or go to cdbaby.com and search for Third Wish. Third Wish is also available on towerrecords.com, musicnet.com, musicishere.com, Apple iTunes and Verizon Wireless.
Third Wish has added a welcome friend and new bass player Sean Demoss to the line up and is planning to start it’s own video podcast of live shows featuring the first 2 albums and also feature songs from their new upcoming album release due out later on this summer and the first preview will be available on their web site. They will also feature other talent from Arkansas in the near future. Third Wish will also be offering prerecorded video footage and DVD’s from their web site in the near future. So stay tuned and get ready because Third Wish is back and in better than ever form to keep you entertained and ever guessing, what are they gonna do next?
The goldbrickers have been described as a young and soulful, California country rock band. Inspired by folk, bluegrass, early rock n' roll, blues and r&b, the goldbrickers pay homage to American roots music while simultaneously offering some lyrical twists and positive energy, a fresh "country & west coast" sound. Lead singer/songwriter Nicole Summerwood writes about land, space, love and relationships in a heartbreakingly honest way while adding a dimension of transformation, spirituality and fun that keep spirits high. Guitarist Bob Daspit with his energetic, often dazzling playing, summons the spirit of bluegrass to his more contemporary and unique guitar stylings. The term goldbricker, with its origins in the goldmine days of California points to the simple fact that they would always rather play music than work at their day jobs. With their forthcoming release heaven they may not have to. Kevin Russell host of "Down from the Mountain" KRCB radio show says, "...soulful, tough and tender vocals, inventive incendiary guitar work, top-notch songwriting, these folks have it all. Hearing the band tonight, I had one thought: I have seen the face of the future of alternative country music." Their sound is accessible to country and non-country music fans alike, building bridges with their appealing brand of popular music.

Goldbrickers Release New Album "Heaven"
Country & West Coast Styled Band Releases Second Collection of Original Songs
Sebastopol, CA May 23, 2006 The Goldbrickers have announced the release of their new album Heaven, featuring 10 new songs from their Country & West Coast styled band. At the heart of The Goldbrickers is the creative partnership between singer/songwriter Nicole Summerwood and guitarist/producer Bob Daspit. Their self published album is available through the bands website: http://www.thegoldbrickers.com
Heaven is the second Goldbrickers release after 2001's more Americana flavored 1600 Miles. The new album is a collection of colorful scenes from intimate relationships where external landscapes mirror passionate and ever-changing internal states of mind. The album's songs are an invitation to engage in the ups and downs of a cross-country road-trip, and not merely for sightseeing, but to get at the heart of things.
The Songs
Heaven on Earth begins with the lyric "come on inside" and makes a playful and powerful entreaty to transcend the pain of ordinary love. Indiana Dawn reveals a woman on the verge of a morning departure, handing out an ultimatum and the deadline all in the same breath. On A Night Like This, a young mother finds herself alone, feeling grateful for her loved ones, while simultaneously worrying over the possibility of loss. Heading down to the city dump, in Unlovable, a woman pleas with her lover to embrace himself in the way that he lovingly creates art from cast-off objects. Had to Have You howls through hill country where a small town claims the life of a woman who feels her desire for the wrong man has stripped her of any hope of fulfillment. From there we travel to the California coast where a couple, Stuck in Salinas, struggle with the intensity of their feelings for each other and the difficulty in maintaining their connection. Flood takes the listener to Los Angeles where the concrete river banks can no longer hold back the force of a woman's confined emotions. In The Last Time I Went to Texas, driving across the longhorn state becomes a revelatory experience as a woman gains the awareness that the spacious land has ultimately been a mirror of her relationship with herself. Overcoming complacency and fear returns one to a place of joy in the song Away too Long. And finally, in the lullaby Look Down from Heaven, a parent offers a child the understanding that our sorrows will lead us paradoxically to our greatest happiness.
After attending a Goldbrickers performance, Kevin Russell, host of KRCB radio show Down from the Mountain, said, ...soulful, tough and tender vocals, inventive incendiary guitar work, top-notch songwriting, these folks have it all. Hearing the band tonight, I had one thought: I have seen the face of the future of alternative country music.
Recently Daspit and Summerwood joined Sammy Hagars band onstage at Harrahs Tahoe for his hit single Sam I Am, penned by Summerwood. The song is a current hit on rock radio and is the first single from Hagars forthcoming release, Livin it Up, a country-flavored rock album. Along with his role in the Goldbrickers, Daspit is also Sammy Hagars producer and over the past 5 years has released five albums and a DVD with the Red Rocker.
About The Goldbrickers
The Goldbrickers' music has been dubbed as the new country & west coast sound and likened to Natalie Maines meets Sheryl Crow. The band pays homage to rock n' roll, folk, bluegrass, blues and R&B, but maintains a decidedly contemporary country feel- think Nashville gone California and you have a good idea. The Goldbrickers music is accessible to country and non-country music fans alike, building bridges with their appealing brand of popular music.
For the band at least, the term goldbricker with its origins in the Gold Rush days of California points to the simple fact that they would always rather play music than work a day job.

Description: How To Win At Life plays magnificent, timeless rock that combines the grandeur and soaring melodies of Queen with the raw honesty of The White Stripes. This is powerful music that gives you more with every listen.
Biography:
"Magnificent, Timeless Rock 'n' Roll" is what they call it.
How To Win At Life, founded in the year 2000 by
singer/guitarist Benjamin Leon and keyboardist Joseph
Morais, has played in clubs all over California, from
BB Kings in LA to Blake's in Berkeley. Although the
band has consistently played with talented musicians in
its rhythm section, How To Win At Life has truly arrived
this year with the combination of the brawn and fluid grace
of Chris Wiebe on the bass, and the ebullient majesty of
Greg Ogan on the drums. Representing hometowns in both
the West and East Coasts, their fans span the nation and are
growing in significant numbers daily through word of mouth
and Internet communities.
What, or whom, do How To Win At Life sound like?
Naturally, comparisons will be drawn for every emerging
band, but to give you an idea of the difficulty of their
classification, here are a few that they have heard over the
years: Queen, Jeff Buckley, Elvis Costello, The Flaming Lips,
Pink Floyd, James, and Rufus Wainwright. Ultimately, of
course, none of these somewhat disparate comparisons ever
quite arrive at the singular musical magic they make. On disc,
they will carry you away with the uncensored beauty, love, and
sadness they have captured. Live, they will stagger you with
their powerful sound. At the end of the day, this is a band you
will remember.
How To Win At Life. You can call it "Magnificent, Timeless
Rock 'n' Roll" if you like. Better yet, listen for yourself and
add to the list of descriptives and the ever growing legion
of fans.

Description: 1. smart songs for grown-ups 2. honest and intelligent piano-driven pop that's as clever as it is catchy 3. '70s inspired warmth with a 21st century edge
Biography: Billie Burke Estate plays smart songs for grown-ups. Think of an upbeat Randy Newman, a mature Ben Folds, a secular Cat Stevens. The brainchild of Seattle multi-instrumentalist Andy Liotta, BBE combines the warmth and soulfulness of the early 70s with a modern lyrical sense that is literate and courageous.
Billie Burke Estate has just released its debut, Give It All Away, a collection of songs that balances clever and provocative songwriting with tight and groovy arrangements. Each cut is topped off with Liottas distinctive vocals, strong but empathetic, vulnerable yet assured, and the twelve well-paced tracks come together into an album that's compulsively easy to listen to from start to finish. Whether its the affirmation of Gay or the pain and searing honesty of Jenny Ran Away or the light-hearted tenderness of "Look What You Done," the music is consistently engaging and catchy.
Although the first album for Billie Burke Estate, Give It All Away shows a musical focus and clarity of vision that Liotta honed over twenty years of writing and performing his own songs. He spent the late 80s and most of the 90s fronting two notorious SF Bay Area power trios, Smokin Rhythm Prawns (87 to 92) and Walrus (93 to 98). With over 500 shows between the two units, and sharing the stage with the likes of Green Day, Primus, Counting Crows, fIREHOSE, and Blues Traveler, Liotta became a ferocious performer, juggling intricate bass lines with powerful vocals and making it look easy.
When the Walrus era came to a close, Liotta moved to the Northwest and decided to go it alone. Volume and distortion no longer a shield, he began crafting lyrics and melodies that were more intimate, inspired by the beauty of Pet Sounds and the passion of the early Beatles solo albums. With a used 8-track as the foundation, Liotta created a one-man band, layering piano, bass, guitar, vocals and drums to construct a unique flavor of brainy pop. He dubbed the project Billie Burke Estate after the late actress home, which hosted winter sledding and summer carnivals during his youth in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
The sound of Billie Burke Estate has been developed and crafted over the past seven years, building toward the ultimate goal of a full-blown release; and after five demo albums and over seventy songs committed to tape and hard drive, the time was finally right. Liotta teamed with longtime friend and LA instrumental whiz Zak Schaffer, who produced and contributed the solid backbeat. They worked fast, recording, mixing, and mastering in just over four weeks in the fall of 2005, mostly in Liottas basement. The final product showcases top-quality musicianship, intelligent and compassionate songwriting, all captured with the energy and enthusiasm of a longtime dream come true.
And now Liotta is taking this energy and enthusiasm to the people, performing solo in venues in and around Seattle. The live set is intimate and powerful, offering a unique sense of humor and insight. Inspired by the past, but set firmly in the present, Billie Burke Estate will remind listeners of a time when music mattered.
Biography: Born in the colourful 70s, I had to listen to the classic-rock records my brother used to play in his room. The whole street we lived in had to, actually. But in contrast to the others, I liked it. Playing in local bands since I was 14, I learned how to play guitar and some other stuff.
Early musical influences apart from my classical guitar lessons were Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa both of them as great guitarists and overwhelming composers.
During the 90s under the influence of Krautrock bands like Can or Kraftwerk and the albums of electronic acts like Air and The Chemical Brothers I got interested in messing around with computers and samples. I also started recording in this period of time. The music from my projects SIGMA KLANGKOLLEKTIV and FM-SYNTHESE can still be found on internet platforms like mp3.de.
The next decade was about trying to get all this influences into writing pop and rocksongs that people would listen to. The outcome of these efforts can be found on www.schutzschall.de.

SCHUTZSCHALL - new electronic sounds for your headphones
Essen, Germany - June 02, 2006
SCHUTZSCHALL is basically a one-man-project from Essen, Germany which combines a lot of different musical styles. The synth pioneers from KRAFTWERK live around the corner and have had some influence, but there is so much more in there: Dirty rock'n'roll from the last decades, blues, some jazzy chords and this "straight" songwriting, coming from a rather punkish background.
Michael Kleinschnittger, the man behind SCHUTZSCHALL, has played in several bands before. Since 2001 he is the guitarist of KREISLIGA, a band that is playing its own material in the northwest of germany.
Compared to former projects of the artist, like FM-SYNTHESE or SIGMA KLANGKOLLEKTIV, the songwriting skills have come to the fore. Songs like "Warum" (Why), "Im Ernst" (Seriously) and "Sternschnuppe" (shooting star)have deep and sarcastic lyrics, but the music on its own is worth the attention. - That guy has developed his own style as a guitarist, but you can still tell that he has been listening to PINK FLOYD as well as to the STROKES. The instrumental tracks are full of warm, punchy, oldschool electronic sounds. Something that will make your day, if you're into KRAFTWERK, AIR or something like that.
For some strange reason, SCHUTZSCHALL isn't signed yet, so YOU have the opportunity to find something NEW and EXCITING on www.schutzschall.de. All the music can be downloaded for free right now.

Description: OurAfter's sonic layering of music and in-depth lyrics represents a new age of moody Alternative/Rock.
Biography: Out of Northeastern Pennsylvania comes a unique and refreshing musical force known as OurAfter. The core of OurAfter was formed by singer/songwriter/keyboardist and guitarist John Phillips, guitarist Michael Dudley, and multi-instrumentalist Zhenon Zaia. Each member having come together from previous bands, projects, and musical backgrounds, to create their own original sound, which would incorporate elements of rock, pop, and electronic music
In the genesis of the group, the members began writing and developing music and ideas to flesh out their songs with Azarius Marat from Palm Beach, Florida, handling production duties. When the time came to select a drummer, they summoned Michaels friend and former bandmate Eli Hludzik. With Eli's wide range of styles and influences, along with his sharp percussion skills, he perfectly suited the sound that would become OurAfter.
Following the addition of Eli, OurAfter went into Sound Investments Recording Studio in Scranton, Pennsylvania with Azarius Marat, to begin work on their debut album. With Eli's drumming, Zhenon's bass playing, use of synthesizers, guitar texture ideas and effects, Michaels distinctive guitar style and sound, and John's vocal, synth, and guitar work, teamed with Azarius unique production techniques, the project was off to a good start.
Once tracking of the music was completed, production and tracking of the vocals began. During this period, producer/engineer Jeff Peters from Los Angeles, California worked on co-production of some of the songs, to add more elements to the constantly evolving sound of OurAfter.
After John's vocals were completed, focus was once again put on the music. The group experimented with unique sounds, effects, and production techniques to add to and enhance their sound, but still felt something was missing. That "something" turned out to be assistant engineer and guitarist Clyde.
Clyde was known to suggest ideas in the studio while the group were recording, especially ideas for guitar parts. Eventually, he was approached by OurAfter to be the third guitarist, an offer which he accepted. Clyde's tasteful guitar work turned out to be the missing element in OurAfter's sound. With his inclusion, the group was now complete.
After further tracking of music and vocals, OurAfter began mixing their album. During this time, OurAfter generated much attention on the local music scene and in local music media. In addition, "Karma", a song from the upcoming debut album, was selected for the soundtrack of an upcoming independent film, "BLOODLINES", starring Lou Diamond Phillips.
With unique styles and sounds, fierce originality, and very strong material, OurAfter is out to make their mark on the music scene. The group's debut (as well as the album's) was on May 28th, 2006, and performed to a crowd of over 400 people. Music on the Menu
OurAfter: Plenty of passion
By Alan K. Stout Music On The Menu
No sense in beating around the bush this week: "Perfect Day", the debut CD from the new band OurAfter, is clearly one of the best regionally-released CDs this year.
In fact, it's one of the best CDs I've heard in a long time, anywhere.
The highly melodic album is crafty and smart. The arrangements are clever, the lyrics and vocals are passionate, the musicianship is top notch and the production is excellent. And make no mistake: this is not your average, overly-formulated, soup-of-the-day modern-rock stuff. Its influences seem to run much deeper, and its songs have more to say. It is an album that, lyrically, isn't afraid to be romantic and vulnerable, yet also sometimes comes with a touch of bravado.
More than anything, it offers true and honest songwriting.
We wanted people to relate to this record - to get a little more in depth, a little more moody, a little more emotional, says vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist John Phillips. We just wanted to make sure we put out a product that was going to be different than what is being put out in this area. Something that we felt was polished, and grasped the band as well as possible.
OurAfter, whose members have played with acts such as UUU, The Collective and Dakota, also features Zhenon Zaia on bass, vocals and synths; Mike Dudley on lead and rhythm guitars, "C.J." Clyde Rosencrance on rhythm guitars and vocals and Eli Hludzik on drums and percussion. Surprisingly, the group was formed in 2003, long before some of its members had left their previous bands.
I was more or less doing it for personal, artistic creativity, says Phillips, who adds that while he loved his time with UUU, he always had a strong desire to release a product of original material.
After a while, after constantly being in the studio, and with all of us working together, and with certain elements coming together they way they did, it wound up really being a band. Right when UUU ended, it was more or less a blessing is disguise, because I wanted to launch this. The band really wanted to start performing.
Phillips says work on the CD also began in 2003. Sessions, including recording and mixing, were held at Sound Investments studio in Scranton. Additional production and mixing was done in Los Angeles. Highlights of the 10-track album include "Karma", "Candles", "Rain", "Confessions", and the soaring "Circles". Some have compared the music to that of Coldplay, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins and The Killers.
Phillips, who serves as the band's primary lyricist, says the group's music is a collective effort that leans more towards the pop-rock-alterative flavor. Unlike some modern-rock acts, he says the band is quite comfortable spicing its songs with the use of keyboards to add texture and mood. Lyrically, the songs encompass regional themes, political themes, romantic themes and even themes of faith and spirituality.
The group's CD release party, set for this Sunday at Tink's in Scranton, has been a well-planned event several months in the making, and Phillips says Our After and the other four acts on the bill are stoked and ready to roll.
The biggest thing that I want people to get from that night is to walk away and say "That show on May 28 was a great time", he says. It's an original night and an event that hopefully generates a little more buzz on the scene up here.
And what does he hope listeners will get out of "Perfect Day"? How does he hope people will connect with the music?
There's a lot of things that play into it", he says. "Honestly, the fans are going to have to look into it just as hard on their own. With some of the lyrics in some of the songs, it"s about getting to understand their own personal surroundings. I'll be happy if, out of all of this, just one person would sit down and understand the lyrics, or would even sing along with the songs. If they would like it that much, then my job is done."
Mission accomplished, Mr. Phillips.
"Perfect Day" is an excellent CD, and it seems you've got yourself one hell of a band.
Biography: Chapa... A Los Angeles-based musical collective centered around the songs, stories, and vision of Lou Lewis.
"Every note, phrase, lyric...is wrought with poignancy. You take us there with you, and we can "feel" it as if watching a movie we have now become a part of. You are simply and undeniably ORIGINAL."
--Gaslight District
Chapa shows have been described as an experience unto themselves, combining soothing mood swings with samples, characters, pots and pans, glasses, cello, oboe, steel guitar, drums, flutes, dancers, saxophones, monologues, guitars, suling, talking drum, radio, etc., etc...
Press
Release:
Apart from the greatness in the musicianship that dwells beside the lyrical cleverness, this album is a very worthy addition to the prog-rock and fretboard explorer’s classics table. Chapa is not Roger Water's cousin or Frank Zappa's ex guitarist.. he's Chapa.. and he's brilliant!
Rising up Between is the first track on the album. It is the first introduction to Chapa‘s world of the interpretative rendition of every great sound that ever came out of the listening equipment used throughout his life (thus far). It is also a wonderful glimpse into the astonishing musicianship conveyed in every aspect of each and every strand of the track’s multitracked collective. Only Me on the other hand, is the only track on the album that takes a sway toward the likes of the Bob Dylan backgrounds, scratching the back of The Goo Goo Dolls that are sitting on the vocal chords of Geddy Lee-like sound.
Edna’s Thrill. I’ve honestly never heard hints from the soundtrack to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in amalgamation with a track of this run-amok-like character before. It is the very reason that psychedelic drugs became such a necessity to have around when enjoying the music that the 60s and 70s had to bring us.
Honestly, eclecticism is a wonderful attribute to a track’s portfolio of sound. I can honestly say that I have not had a great deal of exposure to the cello in my day and, as of right now, that level of celloistic ignorance is completely unsatisfactory and must be dealt with as soon as possible.
Masqueraders Downfall is a balancing act that involves smashing guitar playing, broad lyrical expression, and ethnic inflections walking the tight rope that is representative of the flow of the track. Well you wish thee! Pertains to great percussional abilities and, once again, the allure of an excellent handelment of guitar-playing-craftsmanship that binds the track’s separate entities together in an effort to form it’s glossy finish.
From Your Cloud (to mine) may just seem like a short trip to some but it’s not because the ride is so smooth you wish for it to last an eternity so that you can soak it all in. All 3 Faces has a very groovy-like rhythm with harmonies that arise from the dark clouds that adorn the tracks ‘Planet Caravan’ reminiscent guitar riffs.
A Pause in Life is the last track on this album’s send off. It is a representation of how personally expressive Chapa’s lyric style is. He does not hold back in what he means to say but he does seem to care quite deeply about how others perceive and receive it. I guess that’s why they call it “Freedom of Speech” when in this album's case.. it’s freedom of sound.

Description: Female-fronted Aggressive-Melodic Heavy Androgynous Rock with a taste for eclectic and exotic instrumentation.
Biography: AIKOSTAR, known as an aggressive melodic hard rock group with a taste for extraordinary arrangements, vast intense dynamics and eclectic instrumentation, is born to one smoking hot Filipina vocalist and one introverted guitarist/artsy-fartsy guy from Ukraine.
Godparents - a good ol' Mississippi string-pickin' multi-instrumentalist, and a Spaniard (by way of Michigan) percussionist.
And if that's not diverse enough, the musical tastes range from Mahler and Bartok to Meshuggah, Tool and Radiohead, and the instrumentations range from electric guitars and bass to mandolins, bouzoukis, ouds, djembes, cellos, violas and violins.
The enigmatic frontwoman, Vero, whose voice has been described as "Maynard James Keenan having a four-some with Amy Lee, Dolores O'Riordan, and Bjork" has also earned quite a reputation for her unforgettable primitive tribal dance simultaneous with a powerful vocal performance.

"Releasing their debut full-length through their own label, New York City’s female-fronted Aikostar isn’t waiting for anyone to catch up. Along with her bellowing and throat-wrenching vocals, Veronica Faye adds interpretative dancing to her resume, plunking something quite unique into their live show. Hard rock alternative music with chunks of guitar and bass that make your body squirm with excitement and borrowed energy. Kinetic riffing is one element that makes this hard but Veronica also adds her own fiery attitude that manages to bleed through the album’s songs and soak your body and ears in its stingy abruptness. Nice and it’s good to hear a female-fronted band that doesn’t sound like Hole, The Breeders, the Cranberries, Bjork, or Alanis."
Poptimes magazine album review Poptimesmagazine.com
""Look at my shadow now! Look at my shadow now!", screams Aikostar's enigmatic front-woman, Vero in the outro of the track The Guardian, which assaulted my ears with such beautiful, yet confusing sensation - kind of like the androgyny of the whole Aikostar thing: Dark, heavy, manly, off-meter songs engulfed by a delicately angry female voice. Such is Aikostar's charm - simply, unclassifiable. And their debut album accurately portrays them as such...It is one album that one would cherish because of the mind boggling performance and the intricate arrangements... It is a record that pounds one's senses with brutal sweetness, and fills one's soul with the need to absorb itself.
Verdict: An amazing record that lives up to all expectations."

“Vast dynamics, odd meters, tormenting vocals and a stick bass make this a band you will not soon forget. It kind of assaults your ears the way a female fronted Tool would.”

“Attitude is one thing that Aikostar has a lot of& If you have seen [Veronica] (vocals, rhythm guitar) on stage, you would know that she performs with great attitude. (She) yells, screams, dances and jumps around... Others may disagree but that is how it’s supposed to be. To be big, you gotta think big. This is the attitude that Aikostar delivers when they are on stage.”

The youngest of six children, Dom was influenced by the records and tapes he borrowed from his older siblings, whose musical tastes ranged from James Brown to The Fall, Cat Stevens and The Jam. Dom wrote his first song on the inside of a shoebox lid aged 5, and hes had sole ever since!
Often isolated at school, Dom found refuge in his family, his songwriting and the Essex countryside. As soon as he was old enough, Dom started tagging along with his brothers to local live venues, and it wasnt long before he was performing there himself.
A move to London saw Dom Djing at clubs and singing with underground dance act Scope. After a friend who worked in casting persuaded Dom to audition, he landed a film role starring alongside Dame Judi Dench in an all-star BBC/HBO production. Soon afterwards, Doms band MacArthur were signed to Dave Stewarts Artist Network label and recorded their eponymous debut, working with Funkadelic Gary Mudbone Cooper, top producer Ash Howes and other great session players.
With the collapse of AN, instead of hitting the streets, the album landed on the desk of the official receivers and has been the subject of a 3-year rights battle due to end on Doms birthday August 24th 2006, when he and fellow bandmate Dan Turner take back control of the rights.
Never one to wallow in what might have been, Dom set out to write an album of songs that he truly believed in. Halfway through the process suffered several bereavements. These events had a profound effect on the album and on Doms outlook as he faced the inevitable change in his life. Remarkably he came through this difficult time with a renewed energy and optimism, determined to do everything he could to share his music with the world.

Singer-songwriter Gene-Manuel describes his music in the following manner: If you were to take a huge, imaginary blender, pour in some pop, rock, folk, alternative, lots of guitars, lots of vocal harmonies, some broken pieces of Kate Bush's The Dreaming CD and hit the PULVERIZE button, the resulting concoction would be the music found on Sophisticated Kink.
Working alongside musical partner Michael Morgan, the two went into the studio with one credo in mind: to make music they wanted to listen to, without the confines of any particular genre or any pre-conceived commercial agenda. This freed them to create music for the sake of creating. The resulting disc is a melange that takes the listener through the thumping, guitar-driven soundscape of the title track, shoots them into orbit for the electronica-tinged and haunting 8 [Different Ways], then throws them into a mosh-pit for the rock-fueled CMon [Fully Loaded] and ultimately settling them down nice and easy with the acoustic beauty of Something Ive Always Wanted.
Along for the ride are the vestiges of Gene-Manuels musical muses such as Kate Bush, Paula Cole and Sophie B. Hawkins. Gene-Manuel now joins the rank of such independent artists that truly listen to their inner voice and lets that voice guide them through the creative process. Sophisticated Kink is full of raw, honest, thought-provoking music that not only moves the spirit but causes an involuntary bodily jerk every now and again, in a good way of course

Biography: THE CUTTING EDGE IN ROCKTRONICA AND INDUSTRIAL ROCK
GITM is often described as having a fresh sound that is distinctive and definitive. They sound like nobody with hints of everybody at the same time.
"Powerful, emotional, unpredictable and engaging - That's just the way we are and write. We have so many influences, we can't even count them. Our music is product of this, so it is multi-dimensional as well. Besides, we believe people can relate better to this because they too are multi-dimensional - everybody likes a change or something different occasionally. Different songs match different moods whenever they occur. Our music reflects our view of the world, our heart and our soul."
- Ghost in the Machine on their music.
The original members of Ghost in the Machine, Mike Kern (bass, vocals, programming) and Chris Weerts (guitar, vocals, programming), are both former band members of Hangman, a metal band from the late 80's. The decision to get back together and form an electronic rock and industrial band occurred in late 1995. This decision was based on the desire to create music that did not cleanly fit into any genre, but instead fused elements of different musical styles.
In early 1996, the band name Ghost in the Machine was assumed after seeing it on a movie box. It was symbolic of the band's essense: ghost (music) in the machine (computer).
Their debut EP entitled Ghost in the Machine, released in mid 1998, was a success.
The first full length CD, The Haunting Begins..., was released in late 1999. This album would bring GITM much recognition. It was shortly after this that GITM sustained top positions in mp3 chart sites such as MP3.com, soundclick.com and others.
In 2002, fellow friend and musician R.J. Thompson was added to the GITM line up on guitars.
The Repo Session was released in early 2005. GITM songs become common place on MTV, VH1 and various cable shows.
Currently, they are working hard promoting The Repo Session and they are in the midst of recording songs for a new CD.
GITM is back and with a new sense of desire, inspired motivation and pure adrenaline. You can hear it in their new music. Contact them at gitm@gitm.net for details or visit the Ghost in the Machine website www.gitm.net to learn more information.

One thing has remained the same, there is no genre to completely describe Ghost in the Machine. They fuse electro, dance, metal, techno, industrial, urban& and thats just the beginning.
Lyrically, Ghost in the Machine falls to the dark side yet still retains a glimmer of hope. Topics range from unrequited love to sex, escaping oppression and spiritual enlightenment; from the brutality of the crucifixion of Christ to the underground power of revolutions.
Ghost in the Machine is gaining momentum in the music industry. In addition to releasing The Repo Session, Ghost in the Machine has had many song placements in various media. Licensors include NIKE, MTV, VH1, Tokyopops Initial D, The Sci-Fi Channel and others. Ghost in the Machine is also in the process of writing music for several independent films.
The Repo Session can be found at Amazon.com, CDBaby.com and also through most major digital download services such as iTunes, MSN, etc. More distribution options will follow.
Biography: Who the hell is Chuck Thurau?
I am a bass playing, singer / songwriter from Brooklyn, New York. I’m also an aspiring producer with a few recording projects under my belt. I have recently left the very popular and world-renowned Ska phenomenon, "Spider Nick and the Maddogs" where I served diligently as the bassist and vocalist for close to 9 years, playing some 700+ shows, as well as producing the bands latest CD, "Bone Dog"
Embracing Chaos
Embracing Chaos is truly a DIY project. It is a reflection of many influences, from Classic Rock to old school Soul and R&B to Reggae and Ska with Hip Hop Beats. It has been described as "Spaced-out, blues driven, reggae flavored rock over r&b beats" and “Urban Cross-over”. I wrote and produced this CD using a mix of modern computer based recording and sequencing gear and old school bass, guitar and singing. (I did manage to wrangle a few friends into contributing some performances).
In my opinion, the stand out track is “Chaos is Constant”, my personal take on the religious right, fear and the (Conservative) American way of life. I wrote the lyrics after watching one of the Bush Kerry debates. The lead track, “Eye of a Butterfly” was written as a wake up call to my own humanity. It’s about wanting to plug into being human and feeling connected to others (sometimes it’s a challenge to feel connected in the fast passed New York City world in which I live).
Currently, I’ve been splitting my creative energies finishing up a collection of instrumentals (for an early 2007 release), playing and singing with my new Blues band, “East River Ratz” and looking for other artists to produce.

Description: rootsy rock /pure funk with world music undertones and melodic psychadelic overtones. With strong evolutionary content these are social /philosophical vibrations - funkadelic meets Neitzsche
Biography:
PILGRIM SPEAKEASY's...
..music comes over like the lovechild of Funkadelic ,world music and a cosmic third Party with drinks served by Neitzsche and whatever was behind the Lau Tsu.......it can certainly be called eclectic.
Percussive but emphatic rhythms and over abundant melodies, ripping guitars ,fonky basslines and earthy percussion and we are only on the first course, hang around for a dessert of diversity.
The music is written perfomed, recorded and produced by Roger Davies aka Pilgrim Speakeasy ,who to date has recorded 4 full albums of material, since 2000.
Since journeying to the wilds of Scandinavia (after 4 years with his London Playthings and some literally 'ecstatic(!)' audiences) the speakeasy tree has grown other branches magnetising evolutionary individuals with it's originality of sounscapes and lyrical propositions.IT continues to evolve.

DISLIKES: Being obligated toward conforming to bad karma
(a place where Funkadelic meets world music with drinks served by Nietzsche and massage by Lao Tzu.) Kainuu ,Finland july 2006.
When Pilgrim Speakeasy’s fingers were crushed under the weight of a 20 lb sledge hammer, at the tender age of 14, the future VIRTUOSITY of his present music seemed to be in question. Thankfully the bones have now again fused, reforming in the shapes of sychedelic exuberance.
A disciplined ARTISTIC dedication in the solitary Scottish wilderness was conversely complemented with 10 years of Metropolitan perspective /hustle .In London his style developed into a crossroads of ROOTSY ROCK , PURE FUNK, with layered vocal melodies expressing and reflecting a POETIC, SOCIAL/PHILOSOPHICAL and often HUMEROUS disposition
The CONTENT cannot be overlooked; in fact Pilgrim Speakeasy’s music is bursting at the seams with ECLECTISISM and the expression of opinion that has been the natural formation of feeling two sides of our physical reality, the URBAN and the NATURAL WORLD.
There is a refreshing lack of artificiality about these sounds .After 10 years of gigging around the U.K it became clear as scenes changed and various styles came and went that in terms of style Pilgrim Speakeasy was on his own!
Leaving behind his band The Playthings in London Pilgrim Speakeasy now has lived in many countries, currently he is producing ALL of the sounds in his sonic world, somewhere in Northern Finland.
Pilgrim Speakeasy is a songwriter, performer, recording maestro /producer, multi-instrumentalist, pagan fundamentalist, poetical renegade and social hand grenade.

Description: Funky, soulful, upbeat pop/rock with elements of jazz and R&B.
Biography: Led by vocalist/songwriter/musician Stefanie Seskin, New Jersey's blue number nine is an interracial soul/funk outfit with a strong 70s influence. Seskin isn't necessarily an R&B purist where blue number nine is concerned; there are, at times, traces of rock, pop and jazz in their work. But soul/funk is the primary direction of Blue Number Nine--who have sometimes been compared to the equally 70s-minded Brand New Heavies--and Seskin obviously gets a lot of inspiration from an era in which Rufus & Chaka Khan, Labelle (Patti LaBelle's 70s vocal trio with Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash), Maze & Frankie Beverly and the Average White Band reigned supreme on the R&B charts. Seskin's funk isn't the gutbucket, over-the-top funk that Parliament/Funkadelic, Bootsy's Rubber Band and the late Rick James were famous for in their heyday; rather, Seskin favors what was called "sophisticated funk" back in the 70s--that is, the sort of gritty yet polished funk associated with Rufus/Khan, Maze, AWB and Philadelphia International Records. Seskin formed Blue Number Nine in September 1995; by that time, she had a resume that included, among other things, a stint playing bass for the New York City band Bill Popp & the Tapes in the late 80s and early 90s. Seskin does most of the bass playing on Popp & the Tapes' first album, Popp This, which singer/songwriter Popp released on his own label, 121st Street Records in 1990. With Popp's band, Seskin played his songs and embraced a very British Invasion-influenced, 60s-minded style of pop-rock along the lines of the Beatles, the Yardbirds and the Zombies--and Seskin's ability to go from playing in Popp's band to forming a soul/funk outfit about half a decade later underscores her versatility.
But while there are major stylistic differences between Bill Popp & the Tapes and Blue Number Nine, the two bands have one thing in common: both of them reflect the creative visions of their leaders. Just as Bill Popp & the Tapes is Popp's baby, blue number nine is very much Seskin's baby--and she has worn many different hats in her band, including lead vocalist, songwriter (she writes or co-writes most of the material), producer, engineer, flutist, keyboardist, alto saxophonist, clarinetist and percussionist. blue number nine's debut album was released on Berger Platters Records in 2000; that CD was followed by 2001's Saving Spot (a live album), 2003's On a Shoestring, and 2005's Living It Up In the New World, both on Check Other Records. Along the way, Seskin's band has had more than its share of lineup changes; in 2004, Seskin was the only remaining original member, and the East Coast musicians joining her in blue number nine included Marco Accattatis on bass and background vocals, Luca Tozzi on guitar, Jenny Hill on tenor sax, Pam Fleming on trumpet, Rob Susman on trombone, Morgan Fite on percussion and background vocals, Camari Frame on percussion and background vocals, Jack M. Gourdine on drums and Joel Hirsch on percussion and background vocals.

blue number nine's summer tour in full swing
Jersey City, New Jersey, August 2 - Funk hipster band blue number nine is hitting the road with a vengeance this summer, playing numerous outdoor festivals and club shows. All tour dates are listed below with more to be confirmed. So far, the highlight of the tour has been to open for the Average White Band at the Alive @ Five concert series in Stamford, CT.
With members hailing originally from Japan, Italy, South Africa, Detroit, Pennsylvania and California, one might say that blue number nine resembles the United Nations. But New Jersey-based Stefanie Seskin felt this gave the band an identity when she started it in 1995. Each member’s roots could not help but give the music a worldly flavor, one combining funk with Latin jazz, R & B, rock, pop and early Motown. Seskin, the lead singer, songwriter and flute player of blue number nine, fronts the band that has been likened to a “tornado on stage” and one that seems to bring a party wherever they go.
Along with that party comes a strong work ethic, as blue number nine has definitely stayed busy in the past year, having released their third studio CD Living It Up in the New World, and having expanded their reach as far as New Hampshire, South Carolina, Kentucky, Chicago and Minnesota.
blue number nine is the first independent band to receive a product endorsement from Ultimate Support, a company that manufactures guitar, speaker and microphone stands. They have released three CD’s to date, 2000’s self-titled debut, a live album in 2001, 2003’s On a Shoestring, and Living It Up in the New World in 2005. With hundreds of shows under their belt, the highlight of their career was playing the Levi’s First Stage" prior to the headliner Chicago at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island two years in a row.
While blue number nine is a group of amazing musicians that write catchy and melodic songs with tight grooves, it’s an energetic live performance that separates them from the pack, and they invite you to come see why.

Description: Morrissey meets Crowded House on a sunny day.
Biography: Given the intelligent, lush, upbeat quality of Climbing Frames, the debut album from The Mispent, one could argue that it is influenced as much by the widely diverse backgrounds of its members as it is by their musical tastes and talents.
Band leader, singer, and songwriter Warrick Hayes’ background is a perfect example. He was born in Rio, then “thrust into the heart of 80s England. Post-punk, pre-grunge. Hard, cold, good old repressed New Romantic England.”
Given that background, it is no surprise that his bandmates share similarly wide-ranging pasts. Co-founder and guitarist Guy Fearon lived in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. Valentin Gerlier’s rhythm guitar was flavored by life in Tuscany, bassist Andreas Sigunfeldt’s Danish roots are tossed into the mix, and drummer Andy Hawkins adds the final "made in Britain" touch.
Vastly diverse origins, but one voice. Sophisticated but cool. This is contemporary rock with a global warmth, derived from a breadth of experience that would be nearly impossible to attain in any conscious way. This is music from something as vast as the world and as personal as the soul.
And the music world already seems to be taking notice. The band recently entered VH1’s “Song of the Year” competition, where Hayes’ composition “Wish You Well” was a top-five finalist in the rock category.
It was Hayes’ experience on other stages in England that shaped his writing and the formation of the band itself. “In a world where the pop song the three-minute distillation of ‘what’s cool now’ was the barometer of all things under thirty, I found it hard to fit in,” says Hayes. “I kind of acted my way through it: got parts in the school plays, did a degree in English and drama, trained as an actor for one year, and then appeared in 19th-century costume dramas.”
Then came the epiphany. “As much as Oscar Wilde is a great writer, I thought, ‘This stuff is all a hundred years old’,” Hayes continues. “I discovered that I wanted to deal with life as it is now.” He’d been writing songs off and on since age seventeen and enjoyed the challenge, so in the autumn of 2003, The Mispent was formed with drama school friend Fearon.
Hayes has a clear definition of success as a musician and an actor. He rejects the notion of being involved in the creative process of making music strictly for the business aspect of it all, preferring to pursue a more humanistic path. “If fame and fortune don’t address any of the spiritual problems presented to us as human beings, and we have to take responsibility for them ourselves, why not write songs as a means of catharsis and expression?” Hayes asks, adding, “It seems to me that the primary purpose of a good song, in human society, is to generate communal identification of a universal feeling or truth.”
When pressed, Hayes will tell you he believes that one can, by extension, become successful if listeners buy into a particular expression of that truth. But looking for commercial success for the sake of itself is not a valid objective. “There are plenty of bands that have made that particular Faustian pact, only to find that their goal in the first place was deeply flawed.”
The Mispent cite an eclectic but impressive pedigree as far as musical influences are concerned. Springsteen, Knopfler, Gilmour, Dylan, Barlow, Beck, and Crowded House are among their favorites.
Hayes doesn’t buy into the “flash of inspiration” model of songwriting, preferring to let the inspiration happen, then using his technical skills to put together the music. “Naturally, you can’t constantly walk around in a state of letting it happen,” he says, “so there have to be left brain influences. The inspiration is the design, the cognitive stuff is the bricks and mortar. You need both.”
His songwriting process starts with the music, and then lyrics are added. “It can’t be forced,” he says. “The most important thing for me is to put myself in the situation where a really worthwhile idea can come up as often as possible. It means setting a lot of time aside, and being able to accept that sometimes it will just be wasted.” Hayes credits his best lyrical material to walking around. “Wish You Well,” the VH1 “Song of the Year” finalist, popped into his head while he was doing door-to-door fundraising. Hayes explains, “I was thinking about the end of the film ‘Withnail & I,’ and the Hamlet speech, and it turned into a kind of goodbye aria.”
Hayes is not one to reflexively rail against the music business establishment, recognizing that the success of his art is more than simply expressing his talent. “There is a real opportunity, with digital distribution in music, for example, for people to make more creative decisions,” he says. “More independent artists and labels as a result has to be a good thing.” And while he believes the indie movement adds critical variety and honesty to music that reflects where the world is really at, he recognizes that there is a lot of great commercial music.
This is certainly a practical attitude, and one that might reflect Hayes’ development of an ability early on to reflect upon where he was (literally, spiritually, and creatively) and respond accordingly and do so very well.
“For many reasons, there aren’t enough intelligent, melody-driven, adult-orientated bands that are new out there. My focus is to make sure we’re good enough to fill that void and do that job,” says Hayes. “And I think we are, and we can.”

THE MISPENT MAKES ALBUM DEBUT
WITH CLIMBING FRAMES
Just in case you haven’t already heard, The Mispent is a new five-piece from the grounds of South London. Led by singer/songwriter Warrick Hayes, the band was formed in late 2003 and following the success of the fine demo EP All There Is, Is Now, have just unleashed their debut LP, the excellent Climbing Frames.
Produced by Peter Larsen, these songs showcase a sound that has been described as “Morrissey meets Crowded House, on a sunny day.” It is intelligent yet entertaining and humorous yet heartfelt contemporary rock that offers a little bit of something for everyone. That could be largely a result of the diverse backgrounds and influences each band member brings to the table.
Band leader, singer, and songwriter Warrick Hayes’ background is a perfect example. He was born in Rio, then “thrust into the heart of 80s England. Post-punk, pre-grunge. Hard, cold, good old repressed New Romantic England.” Band co-founder and guitarist Guy Fearon has lived in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. Valentin Gerlier’s rhythm guitar was flavored by life in Tuscany, and bassist Andreas Jensen’s Danish roots are also tossed into the mix.
The result is a universally warm and inviting rock vibe that is difficult to resist. As evidence, consider that the band recently entered VH1’s “Song of the Year” competition, where “Wish You Well” was a top-five finalist in the rock category. Or you might look at the band’s rapidly expanding fan base for further proof. But despite the whirlwind of recent success, Hayes and company aren’t losing sight of what they set out to do.
“For many reasons, there aren’t enough intelligent, melody-driven, upbeat, adult-orientated bands that are new out there,” says Hayes. “My focus is to make sure we’re good enough to fill that void and do that job. And I think we are, and we can.”
“Song of the Year is excited to recognize Warrick for his exceptional songwriting ability for the song ‘Wish You Well.’ Warrick competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music, including many Grammy Award winners." - VH1 “Song of the Year” Competition

Description: The sound of DownTown Mystic is vintage yet modern. An industry trade publication put it this way: "DownTown Mystic’s music is inspired by ‘60s pop icons, ‘70s rockers, yet it’s planted firmly in the here and now."
Biography: The genesis of DownTown Mystic started when Sha-La president Robert Allen was working in the studio with modern rockers, The Discontent. Robert, as a musician, was intrigued with the idea of playing his more traditional rock songs with modern musicians. So he recorded some tracks with the band and liked the results from the sessions.
Having finished recording half a dozen tracks, Robert wanted to test out a song to see what the reaction, if any, would be. He found out soon enough in somewhat dramatic fashion. Veteran tastemaker, Jed The Fish, would play the track "Lost & Found" off of an Industry compilation cd as his "Catch of The Day" on "World Famous" KROQ in LA, one of the most influential modern rock stations. This would lead to some national airplay.
When the "Mayor of The Sunset Strip", legendary KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenheimer, played another track, "Brian Jones", Robert knew it was time to go back into the studio and finish recording enough tracks for a full-length album.
Robert decided to give DownTown Mystic more of a group identity by enlisting the talents of singer/songwriter Bruce Engler. Robert had worked with Bruce on projects and always felt the two had very compatible styles. The result would be the "Rock'nRoll 4 The Soul" cd.
Besides Robert and Bruce and a host of other talented musicians, "Rock'nRoll 4 The Soul" also features 2 stellar tracks with one of the great rhythm sections in the history of American Rock'n'Roll--Garry Tallent & Max Weinberg of the E Street Band.

Biography: GREEN MAN'S 'lovedeathbeauty':
Building on traditional lyrics and melodies, Green Man's new compact disc 'lovedeathbeauty' (independently released on Bad Baby Records and a follow-up to the band's self-titled debut release 'GREEN MAN') delivers a cinematic soundscape ranging from Celtic to Appalachian to Arabic. Dark, beautiful, layered, hallucinogenic, and smart; think 1 Giant Leap, Portishead, and Massive Attack filtered through Middle Eastern and Celtic sensibilities. The result is unique, exciting and fresh.
The palette of sounds is large and varied, combining acoustic instruments (flutes, tin whistle, accordion, cittern, sitar) with contemporary (loops, techno beats, samples, sequencers, Eastern percussion/rhythms, thunderous drums, heavy rock guitars) -- all tied together with rich male/female lead vocals and lush three-part harmonies.
While remaining true to the timeless depth and beauty of traditional Celtic music, Green Man creates a sound and mood that is decidedly their own.
Green Man (Ken Eros, Martin Morrisey and April Theriault) is again joined on this album by celebrated uilleann pipes player Eric Rigler (Bad Haggis, Troy, Master And Commander, Titanic, Braveheart, The Road To Perdition soundtracks) and world percussionist Austin Wrinkle (Hands On'Semble) as well as numerous other special guests.

"This CD is excellent from start to finish, fusing traditional instrumentation with the contemporary, and generating a sound and mood that should satisfy both the traditional and the progressive listener. It is, without any reservation, one of the best independent releases that we have received - the kind you hope for but rarely get."

"I like (it) very much. It's a very interesting approach... much more authentic than Riverdance music, it (has) a much nicer edge to it."
- Joe Boyd, Producer (Pink Floyd, REM, 10,000 Maniacs)
"Too many Irish bands fit into one of two categories - Celtic rock a la drums, electric guitar and bass slaughtering 'Brown-Eyed Girl' or 'Fisherman's Blues' - or strictly traditional, overly polite bands. Green Man is a band of solid musicianship that electrifies...their willingness to experiment is refreshing."
- Dave Soyars, Irish Herald (San Francisco, CA)
"Green Man combines Celtic and Eastern music to sometimes startling effect. The music is all lush and lovely, like Enya touring with Lawrence of Arabia."
- Listen.com
"Green Man's music is rooted in Celtic - but the instrumentation takes them around the world, and even into space, while held together with incredible rhythm."

Description: modern production, retro art-rock influence, one-man-band
Biography: One-man-band, seasoned songwriting, performing and producing veteren. Anthony (OK, I'm writing this myself, but the third-person thing is cooler)was a vocalist/keyboardist for a regionally successful rock band and, being a prolific songwriter, often found himself using sequencers, synthesizers and samplers to simulate drums, bass and guitar for his songwriter demos. After the breakup of the band, this practice was the only feasible method by which to continue to create and eventually became second nature. "Curtain Street" is a collection of new and newly re-recorded original songs that reflect the many influences on his songwriting. Progressive in it's production, retro in it's sense of melody and lyric. Shades of classic rock, progressive rock and electronica cover the window that looks out onto Curtain Street.

What happens when a seasoned, art-rock influenced solo artist meets up with the modern world of cutting edge computer based music production technology? Curtain Street! The long-time-coming debut of Anthony Adams melds disparate influences of electronica and 70's art rock. Heavy on melody and intricacies, this CD doesn't let it's forward-leaning production overshadow it's eclectic, nonconformist songwriting, all while managing to remain overtly accessible.
