CheyenneGlass, THE PROCESS

All CheyenneGlass was created in 5 phases at Stu Stu Studio, in Empire MI. After choosing the crushed glass, powders or sheet glasses, the process begins. Heated to a molten liquid at temperatures between 1500 and 1700 degrees, it is then soaked in heat, then rapidly cooled to around 1050 degrees. Then it enters an annealing phase that will relive stress on a molecular level, arranging itself into a solid stable form.  Then it goes through a controlled cooling, back to room temperature.

This creates the piece of glass. All of the art work is done before, during and after this process. There may be more firings to shape it, or to add details or inclusions. I can  build up more layers, and fire again, each time completely melding the layers together, and having to alter the firing schedules to accommodate the new dimensions..  There is as much science as there is art in each piece of  CheyenneGlass.  I hope you enjoy owning CheyenneGlass as much as I enjoyed creating it.

The Soul of CheyenneGlass

Chers’ major influences are Monet, Georgia O’Keefe and Ansel Adams

Cher often creates landscapes that are inspired by her surroundings in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. Her glass panels reflect deep perspectives --- fields, trees, distant waters, headlands with limitless skies above. They convey calm, distance and space. These remarkable scenes have an incredible depth, characterized by shaded color layers.

A jewelry line, "Cher Wear" includes pendents, bracelettes, earrings and more, features glass with dichroic or irridescent highlights.

The miniature landscapes  embraces Cher's long time fascination for  'naked trees'.

Cher has exhibits in museums, galleries, and is included in public, private and corporate collections around the world.
