I purchased this game from a local dealer who has a "route game" source. It
was in decent shape when I got it, but I still wanted to give it the full
treatment. I completely tore down the playfield, polished everything up,
waxed up the playfield, replaced all bulbs, regrained all metal, refurbed
the pop bumpers, replaced the "MARS" light dome and motor, cleaned up all of
the wire harnesses, repainted the cabinet interior as well as the backboard,
repainted the coin door and associated hardware, cleaned up the lockdown bar
mechanism and shot it with lacquer then added shop out stickers from Classic
Arcades. I also had to fabricate and replace the spring steel flap on the
rear ramp. About the only thing I didn't do to this game was dishwash the
boards and wire harnesses, clearcoat the PF, and apply new cabinet stickers.
Maybe someday I'll take that plunge. The cabinet looks great with the
exception of some lock-bar holes in the front.
The Getaway is a great game. Since I got the supercharger diverter working
properly and cleaned everything up, balls fly around it so quick that you
can barely see them.
