Created by CJ Gilbert, Ben Nadeau, & Lori Vander Meulen

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have!

Day 1 – Getting to know the Igbo people

Objectives (alpha-numeric citations refer to State of Michigan Benchmarks)

Resources Needed

(Note: Creative teachers with limited technology could still do many of these activities on paper rather than with the recommended software as long as they still had access to the Internet.)

A computer lab with (preferably)

  • Enough workstations for all students to work simultaneously
  • Internet Access & Browser
  • Powerpoint (or similar software)
  • Word (or similar software)
  • Email (like ePals which is free for students) OR sufficient disks for students to save work and transfer it from machine to machine so they can compile their work.

An LCD projector (or equivalent hardware) to allow sharing of Powerpoint e-storybooks when finished.

Target Audience This webquest was originally designed for sophomores taking "Advanced English." These students tend to be highly focused and technologically competent, and thus the webquest should take approximately one hour for these students. However, the external links would still be appropriate, if sometimes challenging, for regular sophomores and/or advanced freshmen. I would encourage allowing additional time for such students though.
