Speak
Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak is a fascinating novel about a young woman who has to face all the typical conflicts of high school, from cliques to classes, but who also has to deal with an internal conflict about a terrible secret she carries. As we read this novel, students will begin to analyze the literary techniques used in the writing and then apply those techniques to their own writing.
