Catalina-Rincon Metamorphic Core Complex

Building a 3D cybermodel of the complex...

Located north and east of Tucson, Arizona, the Santa Catalina metamorphic core complex is an inexhaustible source of geologic fascination.  The image above shows the Santa Catalina Mountains in the top part of the picture and the Rincon Mountains in the bottom.  The southeasternmost portion of the Tortolita Mountains is shown top left.  A fraction of the Galiuro Mountains is at top right.  The city of Tucson (not illustrated) rests in the valley at bottom left.  The small red spot at the extreme left center is "A" Mountain. (Note the misalignment with the shaded relief basemap)

This website was created to initiate dialog and input for the creation of a 3-dimensional cyber model of the Santa Catalina metamorphic core complex (CMCC).  The author invites any comments, advice, ideas, complaints, questions of content, et cetera.

This site is currently under construction and incomplete.  As time allows, additions and updates are planned for this site.  As you peruse the images on this site, please keep in mind that the physical space of the server hosting this webpage is limited, and because there is a great deal of information to display, a format that might seem clumsy or burdensome is used to make efficient use of this limited space.  Please keep this in mind if you find viewing images to be inconvenient or feel that you are excessively clicking to view images.  To view images, you will need Adobe Reader.  If you don't have Adobe Reader installed, you can download it here for free.
