Sunshine Quilters

"bringing sunshine into the receiver's lives"

Welcome to Sunshine Quilters 2011!!

Our group makes quilts to donate to charities. Each member is asked to make one or more blocks per month to send to the host, who assembles and donates a quilt to the charity of their choice. The object of this group is to put a big smile on someone's face and to have fun doing it :)

If you would like to join us, just click on this link HGTV boards and look for the topic "Sunshine Quilters". Post a message that you would like to join and Char will send you directions and information.

Some of our members have just started quilting, while others have been at it for a while. We can use everyone's help! You can choose to simply donate blocks each month, send backing, batting, and such, or host a month in which you will gather all these lovely blocks into a quilt and donate to the charity of your choice.

Instructions: Any member can host. The host chooses the block and the colors they want for the blocks. Everyone completes one or more blocks for each host and sends them by the first of the month. To get instructions for the blocks, just click on the block name in the table below (it's underlined). When mailing, please place the block(s) inside a plastic zipper baggie with the host's name and address and your return address (in case the outer envelope gets messed up), and then inside a manila mailing envelope (padded envelopes work best).

Please email pictures of your finished quilts to Char so they can be posted on this site! (email to char)

12-1/2" Louisiana Block. Color 1 will be the darker (bright) color. Color 2 will be a lighter shade -tone on tone - of Color 1. Color 3 will be white on white (WOW). Please use Bright Prints for Color 1 and sew the blocks with white thread. Please do not use Batiks or Solids. Also, please send the leftover triangles from this block.

12-1/2" Log Cabin. Please pre-wash all fabrics. Red, white and blue for the Veterans in hospice care.

Basically white/red with blue center, or white/blue with red center. Even red/blue with white center would work. But, yes, I'd prefer each block to contain all three colors.

The "logs" don't have to be symmetrical sizes, though, they can be uneven if people are trying to use up scraps, that will still work.

12-1/2" Sawtooth Please make the center a kid's novelty print and coordinating colors for the rest of the block. The quilts will be donated to Quilts for Kids.
