Everyone is to make 2 blocks using two bright contrasting colors

Please use high contrasting birght colors like ones in the photo of the quilt below
(NO nolvity prints please as the pattern gets lost - use a tone on tone or small scale print)

When selecting fabrics you will need a REGULAR CUT 1/4 yard (not FQ) of each color.
Two colors per block - so total of four fabrics.

Please prewash fabrics before cutting to avoid any colors from running.

This should only take 20-30 minutes for you to complete both blocks.
WOF = Width of Fabric also said to be from salvege to salvege.  (Usually around 42" wide)
Select Block 1's two fabrics to work with first.

Now it is time to get started!

Place color 1 and color 2 Right-Sides-Together and fold WOF twice before cutting

Cut TWO strips = 3" x WOF
Take one strip set and cut two 3" x 8" rectangle sets from it and set aside.
(Do not sew these strips togther - separate them)

Take the other strip set and sew a 1/4" seam along the long edge

Press seam towards the dark fabric

From the strip set you sewed together fold in half before cutting

Cut (2) pieces that measure 3" x 3"

Cut (2) pieces that measure 3" x 5 1/2"

Now you have everything to construct your blocks

Join your 3" x 3" to your 3" x 5 1/2" units first  (set a to set b)  see diagram below

Then sew your 3" x 8" to complete the quarter block ( sew a&b to piece c)
Please DO NOT sew the four blocks togther.  Normaly you would and the block would finish at 15"
Now you are ready to Repet this process for the fabrics for your Second block.

        7.5"   7.5"   7.5"
      c

      b   a

After I receive the blocks I will scatter them randomly to create a colorful quilt like the photo shown below.

Quilts made from the blocks received will go to the Medical College of Georgia Children's Oncology unit
