School dances are sponsored by school and parent organizations, such as the Yearbook, the APTO, and the different classes. The sponsoring organization is responsible for hiring the D.J., arranging for a police officer, arranging for a member of the administration, and for arranging teacher and parent chaperones. The organization also sell refreshments. Often this dance is a major fund-raiser for that organization.
Dances usually run from 7:30 pm to 11 pm, and the entrance fee is usually $5 for in-school dances. Special events such as the Winter Ball have a different fee. The administrators have asked that students be picked up promptly at 11:00 pm. Chaperones who have volunteered their time should not be placed in the position of staying around until stragglers are picked up.
Keep in mind that the Winter Ball in December is school-wide and is an well-attended dress-up affair. Tickets will be sold at lunch by the Student Council.
Late buses run at 5:30 pm on Monday and Friday, and 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm Tuesday through Thursday. These times are only approximate!
Absolutely! Class officers set the dues for that year, and there are late fees. In order to attend the Junior Prom, Senior Ball, and Senior Class Night, dues must be paid up for previous and current years!
This signup is done through the school. Students will bring home registration forms. The PSATs are often taken in 10th and 11th grade, even though it only counts for the National Merit Program in 11th grade. For more questions, please call the Guidance office.
The Junior Post Prom Party is an all-night party for juniors and their guests, immediately following the Junior Prom. Students are kept busy all night with many activities, lots of food, and entertainment. It is a safe, fun and drug-free way to end a special night.
The Post Prom Party is in its ninth year and is organized by a parent committee. This year's co-chairs are Lisa Medoff and June Chapin. Parents from all grades are needed to maintain continuity on the committee. There are tasks of all sizzes. Please come and volunteer. The first meeting is Tuesday, September 4 at 7:30 pm in the library.
