OCTOBER-1999

Week of 10/10/99:                                         Sunday, October 10 - Triboro #4 made it back to the win column in their third NorthStar Hockey League game with a solid 4-0 decision over the Starhawks #4. Kevin opened the scoring for Triboro in the early minutes of the first period with assists from Jordan and Katelyn. John finished off the rest of Triboro's scoring, notching his first hat trick of the season with a goal in each of the 3 periods. Another highlight was the outstanding goaltending of Andrew and Arthur who, each being called upon to make outstanding saves, recorded their first combined shutout of the year. Saturday, October 16 - Triboro #4 came out strong in their third game of the N.Y.H.L. parity round against a hard working Natick team. John scored on his first shift of the game to give Triboro the early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, Natick scored four straight goals, one towards the end of the first period and three in the second. With just over a minute left in the second peroid, Kyle notched Triboro's second goal (assisted by Katelyn). Arthur played a solid game in goal, keeping Natick off the board in the third period but Triboro could not put the puck in the net, losing by a final score of 4-2.

Week of 10/17/99:                                         Monday, October 18 - Triboro #4 ended the four game parity round in N.Y.H.L. with a loss to Concord/Carlisle by a score of 5-0. Hopefully the parity system will work and Concord/Carlisle will be moved to a higher division but even if they are not, with a stronger effort and solid fundamental play, Triboro can be competitive in their next meeting. Tuesday, October 19 - Triboro #4 won their second straight NorthStar Hockey League game, shutting out Tri-Valley #3 by a score of 3-0. John opened the scoring in the final seconds of the first period (assisted by Seth and Jon). Graeham added Triboro's second goal on a nice setup from Marc and John. Jordan finished of the scoring putting home a great feed from John. Matt and Eric were particularly effective on offense playing with Graeham as was the line of Katelyn, Nicole and Molly, who had numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game. The defensive play of George, Kyle, Kevin, Maeve, Marc and Seth was outstanding, helping Andrew and Arthur record their second tandem shutout of the season. Saturday, October 23 - A very short-handed Triboro #4 team continued their winning streak in the NorthStar Hockey League beating a hard skating Medfield #3 team by a score of 3-1. John notched his second hat trick of the season scoring all three goals in the opening period. Graeham assisted on the first goal and George got the helper on John's second, his third was unassisted. With only eight skaters, everyone on Triboro was forced to double shift. John, Graeham, Matt, Kevin and Molly were on offense and played outstanding at both ends of the ice. George, Marc and Seth played solid defense and once again the goaltending team of Andrew and Arthur backstopped another Triboro win.

Week of 10/24/99:                                         Wednesday, October 27 - Triboro (#4) opened the regular season of the N.Y.H.L. with a hard fought win over a tough Midstate 2 (#5) team by a score of 2-0. Nicole scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Katelyn, midway through the first period. Katelyn put the game away, with an assist from Molly, in the closing seconds of the third period as Arthur and Andrew recorded their third tandem shutout of the season.
