2012 TENNESSEE THREE POSITION AIR RIFLE JUNIOR OLYMPIC

QUALIFICATION ROUND MATCHES

 

PURPOSE:  This Match Program, the National Rules, the National Guidelines and any later modifications to them constitute the Official Match Program for the 2012 Tennessee Three Position Air Rifle Junior Olympic Qualification Round (QR) Matches.

 

LOCATIONS AND DATES:  Four locations in Tennessee.  An athlete may compete at any of the four locations, but may compete at only one location [the first fired] for qualification score.  FOR DIRECTIONS TO MATCH LOCATIONS, CONTACT REGIONAL MATCH DIRECTORS AT THE EMAILS SHOWN AT END OF MATCH PROGRAM.

MEMBERSHIP:  Athlete must be enrolled in a U.S. high school or grades below high school or home schooled at high school level or below.  Competition open to all high school or school age competitors.  Home Schoolers compete as individuals unless actually affiliated with and regularly practicing with a club team.  No ad hoc teams.  Membership in USA Shooting, CMP, NRA and the Tennessee Shooting Sports Association (TNSSA) are NOT required to enter the qualification round matches as an individual.  Teams and Clubs are STRONGLY urged to join the TNSSA and at least one of the national rifle sport associations:  NRA, USA Shooting, CMP.  CMP is the governing body for the 3 P A R Junior Olympic Matches.

 

RULES:  National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules 2010-2012 (V1) (or more current version existing) will apply as modified or extended by this Program and the Guidelines.

 

DISTANCE:  10 M (32Õ, 9.75Ó)   SIGHTS:  Metallic only CHALLENGE:  Per Rules.  TARGETS:  Kruger, two sighter bulls, 10 record bulls per sheet, scored by Orion.

 

TEAM MATCH:  Four member paper team match.  Competitors will shoot the match as individuals; scores may be combined for a "paper" team match.  Team members MUST be designated and team score cards must be turned in to the Range Officer BEFORE any team member fires a record shot.  Mixed Teams (precision and sporter) will compete in the Precision Class.  Team ties broken per Rules.

 

SQUADDING:  Teams and Clubs will be assigned relays based on their entry request, travel plans, equipment availability and range availability.  Competitors should report to the Ready Line 10 minutes before their relay time.  Competitors will be assigned to firing points BY TEAMS according to a sign-up list which will be posted shortly after the range opens for the day.  Team Coaches and individual Competitors without a coach should sign up as soon as they arrive at the range.  Competitors will be called to move onto the firing line at their relay time.  Ten minute preparation period begins at the time the relay is scheduled.

 

SCORES:  All scoring will be done by Orion system.  Scores for competitors at all matches in Tennessee will be consolidated into a single results list to determine the state winners and print a statewide Results Bulletin. 

 

ALL-STATE HIGH SCHOOL RIFLE TEAM:  THIS MATCH ALSO ACTS AS THE QUALIFICATION ROUND MATCH FOR THE TENNESSEE HIGH SCHOOL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH.  IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE TENNESSEE HIGH SCHOOL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH IN APRIL, 2012, A COMPETITOR MUST COMPETE IN THIS MATCH AND ATTAIN A MINIMUM TRANSFER SCORE. 

 

PARTICIPATION IN THIS MATCH IS REQUIRED FOR SELECTION TO THE TNSSA ALL-STATE HIGH SCHOOL RIFLE TEAM.

 

AWARDS:  1, 2, and 3 Sporter and Precision individual awards and JROTC position awards will be presented on the state level only and not at the regional qualification matches. 

 

COACHING:  Allowed ONLY in accordance with Rules.

 

EQUIPMENT CLASSES:  There are two classes -- Precision and Sporter, as defined by the Rules.   An individual may not participate in both Sporter and Precision events.

 

SPORTER CLOTHING:  Shooting coats/pants and shoes/boots which reach above the ankle will not be allowed in the sporter class.  Per Rules 4.3.1 and 4.3.2, a glove, two sweatshirts, sling, mat, scope and scope stand are allowed in the sporter class.    BDU and ACU are not specifically prohibited in this match unless they are worn or accessorized so as to violate Rule 4.3.1.  Rule 4.3.2 prohibits boots of all kinds including military boots. 

 

COURSE OF FIRE/CONDUCT OF MATCH:  Position air rifle 3 X 20 (National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules), 20 shots each prone, standing and

kneeling (fired in timed stages as specified in Rule 5.3.2).  No finals.  Six Kruger targets hung at the start of the relay.  Competitors will compete as individuals. 

 

SIGHTERS IN EACH POSITION ARE UNLIMITED UNTIL THE FIRST RECORD

SHOT IS TAKEN.  SIGHTERS MUST ALL BE FIRED ON LEFT TARGET UNLES PERMISSION TO DEVIATE IS OBTAINED FROM THE RANGE OFFICER AND NOTED IN THE RANGE NOTES.

 

SUGGESTED RELAY TIMES:  Friday:  RELAY F-1 4:00--6:30 pm, RELAY F-2 6:30--9:00 pm (IF REQUIRED); Saturday:  RELAY S-1 8:00--10:30 am, RELAY S-2 10:30am--1 :00 pm, RELAY S-3 1:00 pm--3:30 pm (IF REQUIRED), RELAY S-4 3:30 pm--6:00 pm (IF REQUIRED)

 

ACTUAL RELAY TIMES AND ENTRY FEES:  COACHES MUST VERIFY ACTUAL RELAY TIMES AND MATCH ENTRY FEE WITH REGIONAL MATCH DIRECTOR AT THE ACTUAL MATCH SITE.
