COOKEVILLE, TN - Michael May won the June High Power Rifle
match held recently at the Bend of the River. May was using
his M-1 that he obtained from the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
He ended with the score of 581. Second place went to Jay Duncan
from Cookeville with 571. Nancy Pardue from Cookeville was High
Lady at 553.
It was hot and the rain held off until all shooting and range
clean up was completed. All the new and some of the other shooters
had trouble moving the sights in the correct direction. There
many small groups just in the wrong place.
The rifles used in this match are civilian versions of military
rifles that are well suited for this type of shooting. You may
purchase the WW II M-1 Garand from the Civilian Marksmanship

The match consists of 80 shots. There were 20 shots standing,
20 shots sitting rapid (10 shots in 60 seconds), 20 shots prone
rapid (10 shots in 70 seconds) and 20 shots prone slow fire.
It is all shot at 100 yards. Any one over the age of 15 is welcome.

try.
