## 'POSSUMS PLACE 10TH AT NATIONAL MATCH ##

COOKEVILLE, TN - Results of the 2007 BB Gun Season

The 2007 Tennessee State BB Gun Tournament was won by the Bend of the River possums 5-man team with a score of 2257 out of 2500 (90% average). Second place went to the Livingston pioneers with a score of 2159. Both teams made an appearance at the 2007 International Match, which was held in Bowling Green, KY on the July 1st weekend.

The 2007 International BB Gun Championship Match was won be Georgia with a 2382 out of 2500 (95% average - very impressive). The Tennessee Possums team was proudly recognized for a grand 10th place finish with a score of 2309 (92% a 2% improvement in just 2 months of practice) just 12 points shy of 3rd place. The Tennessee Pioneers team also made a good showing with a score of 2247 (a 3.5% improvement over their State Match score).

The Tennessee Possums team once again earned individual recognitions. Wesley Gothard won 1st place in kneeling in the alternate category with a score of 98! Dylan Loftis won 6th place in standing with a 94 and 4 centers. Meredith Daniel won 7th place in standing with a 94 and 1 center. Meredith Daniel won 8th place overall with a 477 out of 500 and Dylan Loftis won 9th place overall with a 476.

All the kids had a wonderful time. They enjoyed one evening by participating in the Barter Bar, which is a time of trading state pins with kids from other states and meeting the other shooters. Dylan and Meredith have aged out of the BB program this year (a great ending for both) and they are both actively pursuing the precision air gun program. We wish them well.

The match was five parts, ten shots in each of prone, standing, sitting, kneeling for 100 points each and a 100 point quiz on gun safety and match rules. Each team has a possible 2500 points. In recent years it takes over 2350 to win the match .

The BB-gun season is from the first weekend in January until the National matches in July. It is open to boys and girls that are 8-15 years of age.
