Eligibility: This competition is open to all competitor s born in 1988 or later. All competitors must be individual members of USA Shooting. All competitors must be USA citizens. No exemptions.
RESIDENCE: Each competitor may claim residence in only one state and must declare the state of residence on the entry form. Team residence is determined by the state in which the club's headquarters is located. All residents are eligible for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place USA Shooting State Champion medallions. Non-residents may compete for automatic and at-large invitations to the National Championship and are encouraged to do so.
STATE RESIDENT QUALIFIERS: USA Shooting will issue official invitations to the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships (NJOSC) for the high male and high female resident from each state JOSC, provided they fire a minimum qualifying score. Resident collegiate and / or military competitors are eligible for the state resident champion awards and are also eligible for resident state qualifier invitations.
ENTRY: Shooters may not compete in more than one state JOSC. Juniors who fire in their own home state JOSC will not be allowed to shoot in another state. Juniors from states which are not holding a state JOSC and those who cannot attend their own state JOSC will be allowed to enter the automatic/at-large division in other state. At entry, non-resident juniors must declare that they are shooting for an at-large/automatic invitation.
Residents may choose to enter the Automatic/At-large category instead of the Resident Qualifier category if they are confident they can shoot above the automatic score and secure an invitation. This would allow another competitor to receive the State Qualifier invitation.
A. Resident Qualifier - Competitors shooting in their declared state of permanent residency. Competitors in this category are eligible to be the State resident qualifier to the National JOSC.
B. Automatic/ At Large - Competitors shooting in other than their declared state of residency are eligible for at-large/automatic invitations to the National JOSC.
TEAMS: All teams entered in the team competition must represent USAS affiliated clubs. Teams will consist of three firing members.
CATEGORIES: The following categories will be used for individual competition: Junior (J 1): age 18-20. Born from 1989 to 1991. Intermediate Junior (J 2): age 15-17. Born from 1992-1994. Sub-Junior (J 3): age 14 and under: Born 1995or later. (Based on the age the competitor will be in the year 2009)
RULES: Current USA Shooting rules will govern.
COURSE OF FIRE: AIR PISTOL - 10 meters: Women must shoot a 40 shot match. Men must shoot a 60 shot match. AIR RIFLE - 10 meters: Women must shot a 40 shot match. Men must shoot a 60 shot match. SMALLBORE RIFLE - 50 feet: Women must shoot a 3 X 20 match. Men must shoot a 3 X 20 match.
STATE QUALIFIER: One male and one female State Qualifier will be invited per state, provided they fire above the minimum required "state Qualifier" score. Automatic invitations are issued to all who fire above the minimum "automatic invite: score. Remaining at-large competitors will be ranked by age category and score and invited up to the range and bed space availability.

TIME LIMIT: Air Pistol 40 shots 1 hour and 15 minutes. 60 shots 1 hour and 45 minutes Air Rifle 40 Shots 1 hour and 15 minutes. 60 shots 1 hour and 45 minutes. Smallbore Rifle Prone 20 shots 40 minutes, includes sighters. Standing 20 shots 60 minutes, includes sighters. Kneeling 20 shots 50 minutes, includes sighters. Block time for smallbore is 2 hours 30 minutes.
FIRE ARMS: Air Pistol Rule 4.7 - 4.7.7 Air Rifle Rule 4.6-4.6.9 Smallbore Rifle Rule 4.2-4.2.7
SIGHTS: Metallic
DISTANCE: Air events 10 meters. Smallbore 50 feet.
Targets: The MEGAlink electronic target system will be used. The current target for each discipline will be used
COACHING: Coaching will not be permitted.
SCORING PROTESTS: A scoring protest $1 per shot will be charged.
TIES: All ties will be broken in accordance with USA Shooting Rules.
AWARDS: USA Shooting will provide a gold medallion to the top resident individual, a silver medallion to 2nd place resident individual and bronze medallion to the 3rd place resident individual. The sponsor will provide the following awards: There will be first, second and third place in J1, J2, and J3 when the number of entries warrants awards. (There must be 3 in category for first place. There must be 5 entries in category for second place. There must be 8 entries for third. There will be one additional award for each 5 entries. ) Team entries will be given first if there are three teams. Second for 5 teams and third for 8 teams.
PARTICIPATION PINS: A JOSC participation pin provided by USA Shooting will be given to each competitor (provided pins are requested by the sponsor).
SCORE SHEETS: Special Score sheets will be used for all State JOSCs. They are to be filled in completely and signed by the competitor to be considered for invitation to the National JOSC. LEGIBLE handwriting is required. If USAS cannot read the forms you will not get an invitation.

ENTRY FEE: The entry fee will be $11.00 per event. ($8 of each entry fee will be sent to USAS). Team Entry will be $11.00 per team.
ENTRIES CLOSE: Advance entries will close November 10, 2006. Entries from all state residents received prior to the closing date will be accepted to range capacity (14 per relay). Every effort will be made to accept all non-resident competitors who enter before the closing date.
POST ENTRIES: Entries made after the closing date will be accepted up to range capacity.
CANNCELLATIONS: Cancellations received one week in advance, or earlier, will receive a full refund. An additional refund schedule may be used.

DIRECTIONS: Exit Interstate 40 at the Burgess Falls exit (exit #286) in Cookeville. This is the first Cookeville exit when approaching from Nashville and the last ( 4th ) exit when approaching from Knoxville. Proceed north on Burgess Falls Road (this is also called Willow Avenue) to 12th street (about 4.5 miles). The basketball arena will be on your right at this corner and you can also see the football stadium as you look east along 12th street. Turn right and proceed to the west side of the stadium. The rifle range is on the second floor of the north end of the west side of the stadium.
