Unfortunately, the display backlights on all Radio Shack Pro-2005 and Pro-2006 models will go bad. If your backlight looks dim and the digits on the display can barely be read, then it's time to get your backlight replaced!

The Scanner Geek will remove the old light and replace it with a brand-new part, giving your display screen better-than-new illumination!

During the repair process, the backup memory power will be lost and will require you, the owner, to record all of your frequencies now in memory before shipping to us. The scanner will be returned un-programmed and you will need to reprogram up to 400 channels from your list made prior to shipment.

When shipping to us, please be sure to pack well and to insure your package with your carrier (USPS, UPS, etc.) for $400, the Radio Shack retail price. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any shipping problems or non-deliveries from the sender to us. For this reason, we strongly recommend insuring the scanner with delivery confirmation! The repair cost includes shipment from us back to the owner, insured for $400 with delivery confirmation.

Disclaimer: All received scanners will be subject to a performance test prior to repair. Any pre-existing technical difficulties (aside from the backlight) found will be reported to you via e-mail before any repairs are attempted. If you know of any pre-existing problems with your scanner, please relay them to us at the e-mail below before shipping your Pro-2005 or Pro-2006 to us.
